*****Official ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA thread*****

Is anyone running SLi with this board ?

( It states "ATI Crossfire" compatable , in the manual. )

If you are , where would I obtain an SLi bridge for 2 Nvidia 8800gts 640mbs' ?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Mark

Intel chipset boards are cross-fire only,if you want SLI you need an nvidia chipset such as the 650i,680i or the new 780i.

Yes its a top board, and a very stable platform, BIOS is now pretty good to. Unless you have 2 gfx cards already, i would just get the best single card you can aford.

Has anyone switched from a P35 mobo to the Asus Maximus Formula?

I always got the impression that if you just run 1 Nvidia card like the 8800GTX their would be no real benefit switching to the X38 Chipset?

Can anyone give me any advantages I would get switching from say the Abit IP35 PRO?

Would apprieciate the info. :)

I switched from a P35 Asus Blitz Formula to an X38 Asus Maximus Formula, never noticed any difference in performance. The maximus is my 7th motherboard this year, the only reason i changed is i just get bored quick:)

the maximus handles quads a bit better at high overclocks around the pwm, i'm talking 3.7+ .....pwm is really cool on this board.

but unless i had 2 cards to crossfire i wouldn't bother even though the Maximus has proven to be an excellent board for me personally.

Could anyone post some bios settings for a system like mine in sig, im just using cpu level up at the moment at 3ghz and want more, would like 3.4 any tips?

I'm buying this mobo and a Q6600 tonight, what RAM options are best? I'll be overclocking but only air cooling.

Currently looking at 2x2Gb OCZ ReaperX 1000MHz.

Starting Again - just want 400 FSB

I think I have a dodgy board (bios 903) . My SB and NB temps are 44 and 48 degrees at stock no load - 52 and 55 load, asus probe shows them in red and will stop reading correctly after some prime 95.

I know this board will do 400FSB .. its guaranteed to. So Ive configured 400x6. I know from experience that the auto features means that asus bios will have auto raised some voltages perhaps more than they need to be.
Can anyone advise what are the voltage settings that need to be tweaked for 400fsb (im going to reduce the multiply to x6 to ensure the cpu stays at 2.4ghz)

trying to work out why the pc is rock solid at 400x9 with the case off but crashes very quickly (reboots) with the case on. want to confirm it is the motherboard not the cpu failing..

Hi, no it is not likely your motherboard is 'dodgy' at all, if you've set the nb/sb volts to auto the motherboard will run them quite high when overclocking. Ignore Asus Probe, or alter the settings as the chipset is able to handle up to 92c, see here ftp://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/designex/31761201.pdf
Best manual setting for the chipset are around 1.5 for the nb and 1.07 for the sb. As for the vcore, it is a matter for experimentation really as each cpu seems to vary, however there is a good guide here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=168119

On the post screen where you hit tab to see the info screen it tell's me im running at 3.2ghz and to the right of that it says "count: 2" im near sure on my p5k it said "count: 4" as im running a q6600. Anyone else getting this? Maximus formula bios 907.
