After initially finding this board to be very good with my Q6600 i've now decided to give up on it.

Its extremely frustrating as I had my q6600 @3.6 24hrs+ orthos stable.(small FFT's and Blend)

The main problems I'm finding are fsb settings in bios not applying and constant post failures, you're probably thinking that when overclocking this is to be expected, but once I've found a clock that is 24hrs+ orthos stable I expect the board to post and boot into windows with bios settings that have been found to be stable.

I'm constantly finding that whatever FSB I apply in the bios, the board boots in at stock clocks but will apply multiplier variations and all other bios changes o.k,even if I downclock the processor it still boots in at stock clock of 2.4!

I've tried all available bioses, flashing via Ez flash disk utility in bios each time(not via windows utility).I've also tried several cmos batteries.

I've gone back to the BX2 for the time being and using same cpu and hardware I'm managing to push clocks up o.k.

Before I rma the board,if anyone has any suggestions that might fix above problems please let me know.

Thanks.

Ive had boards like that, namely the DFI infinty Nf2 (which was a lot worse tbh). Ive got the P35-DQ6 and it does behave very well.

any problems flashing with the asus update from windows?

Err...problems? If you consider it a problem to have your motherboard sent back and replaced, waiting for about a week and rebuilding your PC....then YES. Happened to me, 15 mins into my brand new system. Do Not Use Asus Update!

I second that, you got 10 more mins than me.

one thing i did notice, just like Alfie786 CPU-Z mem timings were all wrong

cas letency 32.00
Ras to cas 5
ras precharge 2
cycle time 12 clocks

did not have time to investigate as the board died soon after

seems i am having similar problems.. i have a e6600 that is a mega chip, in the d5w hd i got it up too 3.7+ use gskill mem,,, the p5k hates this mem.. i cant get it over 375 fsb, with 1.1 mem, i tried dividing 5:6 and serveral other, when i boot it reterns to stock... i have put the new bios in, and still things remain the same.

i am wondering if the board is to new and needs several updates in the bios to become a good overclocking board.

i got it to 3.3gig a couple od days ago, but still has problems....

no sure what do do next...

can anyone put some bios screenies up and i'll give it another go..

thx

Also im setting 1.55v on my cpu in bios and Asus AI suite is only showing 1.46v in windows.

Does this board undervolt ? Its failing orthos at 3.8Ghz in which other boards I have tested would pass, this makes me believe its undervolting.

hi m8..

how are you getting on with this mobo?

i am having troubles......:(

thinking of going back to the d5w...

Hope these help

Does anyone own an evga graphics card with this mobo with the heat sink underside or topside depending on which way round your mobo fits. i am interested if it comes close to the first yellow memory slot

I have an EVGA 8800GTX KO ACS3 with the heatsink/backplate thing on the underside of the card. It doesn't interfere with the DIMM slots at all, see:

Great thanks for that Mansize , close thing though !

hows the clocking going

i have changed fsb multi now to 435 x 8 and ram at 1088 just to see what it gives all other settings the same
