**- Official Asus P5K Thread -**

It means no vga/vga failure.

You could try an RMA the card but i would definitely try another card if possible first.

Remove the competitor like metalface says. Seems silly asking another competitor on what there rma process is.

Hi all i need your opinions on which mobo to buy , my 680i board has died so i was looking to buy either a asus p5kc or the asus p5k-e , which is the best clocker ?? i am watercooling so i need a decent clocker but dont want to spend the kind of money a deluxe would be + i need money for a new gfx card also , looking on a few forums there seems to be plenty that keep the heatpipes and not bother changing them for other coolers even when going for big overclocks .

Well got mine and all's fine....running @ 3.6ghz....managed a super pi 1mb time of 12.488 @ 4.1ghz don't know what's the best settings to use yet...and vdamper works great so i am pleased.:D

i noticed a weird thing while checking the temps
i have a stable 8x400 mhz q6600, windows & coretemp were reporting 8x449.8 and cpuz the same on my bios.
I did an update on the bios as i saw there was a non beta version available that got released lately, and here is what i get now

with the new bios that was not stable btw, i was getting a lot of blue screens, and i went down to 380x8 and coretemp reports 427x8

Does the memory remap feature in the BIOS have to be enabled in order to see 4GB of RAM? It's just that I installed 64-bit Vista and I only see 3.3GB of RAM with the memory remap feature disabled.

that was sp1 preview mate, i dont think i ve changed any memory remap thingie in the bios though.
do you get 4gb detected in bios?

Nope, around 3.3GB detected in BIOS, and in Windows, with the "Memory Remap Feature" disabled. It's annoying, because enabling the feature reduces performance in games.

this board has let me down again,

got my nice shinney 800mhz ram today and the board will not post @ 400fsb. which is very very disappointing.

even if i up the mch/fsb termination voltage. very frustrating. what a waste of money, i just hope its actualy one of the silly settings causing the problems and not that board

My P5K-E does 425mhz FSB without problem

I would also be curious as to what some of the settings mean.

Trying to work out why i cant POST at >370mhz fsb. and not stable at >340!

which when i hear about people getting these boards without changing and voltages or owt to 500fsb makes me think i've got a crappy setting somewhere.

If i had the cash i'd throw this board away i realy would. been nothing but problamatic since i got it :(

My P5K-E came with very latest bios 0603 and well pleased have beaten the abit and matched the biostar...so that's 4.1Ghz super pi 1mb so far!.:D...and for info on ram the Geil pc6400 ultra and ocuk pc8500 works fine.

Had My P5KC for quite some time now and all running great.

Did have a PS/2 keyboard issue a while back but now using USB KB connection and all is good.

My standard routine for this board: Disable JMICRON PATA controller, disabled floppy, disabled C1E, Disabled Speedstep.

Anyone got any other performance BIOS tweaks ?

Running Q6600, 4x1GB XMS2 ddr800, xfi gamer, vista 32, 2x sata2 hdd, sata dvdrw, wifi card.

Any known issues with this board and using 4 sticks of ram?
My system is overclocked, but ram is on a divider so its running at stock pc6400 speeds.

I've not encountered any issue - I only got a BSOD when overclocking the ram too or making the timings tighter when oc'd but that's to be expected for 4 sticks of 5-5-5-12 6400 ram.

I've just ordered a P5k-e wifi for a new Q6600 PC i'm building and seeing some of the problems people are having around the net and on here, I'm wondering If I bought a good board or not?
