Let me know how you get on with the extra fan, i may give it a go if it works out for you.

Sure thing, although i'm pretty happy with my current temps after i added an extra fan to the front of my case. The new fan should arrive today, though i have my doubts since the delivery service around here is poor. Where do you think it would be best to position the fan? I'm thinking of placing it on top of the 8800GTX, angled at 45 degrees, aiming at the RAM and NB.

I am running at 425 x 8 with my Quad so you should be good for 500+ if you are using a Duo easy i would have thought as long as you watercool the Northbridge

Nice clock andyr (I'd love to have a 3.4 Quad)

Whats the most realiable way to measure northbridge temps?
I guess the motherboard reading (system temp in AI booster) is good enough.

Good luck with the 92mm fan Mansize, let us know how much the temp drops.

I go off probe and AI booster , reads btween 40 - 50 degrees , cooled by MCW30

It was only a 3.15 gig quad with my striker extreme """ this board rocks ""

I come with good news!

After adding some fans to my case, the NB temperature on my P5K Deluxe has dropped from 48 to 34 degrees Celsius under load (Orthos Blend). Although, bear in mind, i'm only using a stock E6600 at the moment. Nevertheless, the huge temperature drop means i can overclock the processor like mad without having to worry about the NB temperature any more. :)

Here's my fan setup:

Nice one.
I am a neatness freak so wonder would an Antec SpotCool do the same job ?

I would say so, yes. In fact, there was a guy on another forum who managed to lower the NB temperature under load on his P5K Deluxe, with an Antec SpotCool, from 55 to 45 degrees Celsius. Well, actually, this particular guy also added an Antec VCool fan to extract air from the NB area.

Take a look at his setup (i hope calebb doesn't mind me posting his picture):

Ive just installed a P5K standard.

Ive hit my first problem, i cant get any of my USB mice to work, USB is enabled in bios and it even says 1 USB mouse detected in bios. hmm :(

I had a problem with my Razer Tarantula not working with my P5K Deluxe. It doesn't work until the Razer drivers loaded at Windows bootup, which means i have to use a different keyboard to navigate around the BIOS. Although this isn't exactly the same problem, have you tried installing the manufacturer's driver for your particular mouse?

you just beat my edited post, it had to install the ICH9 driver which luckily it found on the CD as it wouldnt let me navigate the cd menu with only keyboard.

Nice result Mansize_tissue. I may pick up one of them spotcool fans also as mounting a standard fan with my case would be harder.

Thank you. That sounds like a good idea. Although, out of experience (or lack there of) i don't personally know how the Antec SpotCool performs with this kind of setup since i've only tried with a normal 92mm fan. I'd imagine that it could perform just as well, though. Do you have some kind of PCI card, or graphics card, you could rest a small fan on (like me)? Or do you have a BTX-style setup, or something?

Let us know how it works out, what ever you decide to do. ;)

BTX setup. It's the same case as the picture you posted of the guy with the spotcool infact, Lian-li V2000. My G card is reversed so no where for me to purch a fan on :(.

I have a Scythe cd-rom bay mounted intake fan on order which should take airflow into my case straight over mobo, through my ultra 120 and back out the exhaust. So I will see if this improves my NB before getting the spotcool.

I was thinking of getting that case and putting a 120mm in the front, like yourself. I'd be interested to see what kind of temperatures you get. Good luck!

HAs anyone got the power off-on situation when rebooting  Having just come from an Asus P5WDH which had the problem for 6 months im not too happy.
