the problem u have to switch power off at psu when u do an overclock??

No, if do a restart the PC turns off altogether for a few seconds (poweres off water cooling and all hard disks &fans) then turn back on which puit a big stress on components. It was a famous flaw with the Asus P5WDh for absolute ages and I was ecstatic when they fixed it 6 months down the line.

Now this board is doing it too for me, though i havent seen anybody else mention it.

Also im setting 1.55v on my cpu in bios and Asus AI suite is only showing 1.46v in windows.

Does this board undervolt ? Its failing orthos at 3.8Ghz in which other boards I have tested would pass, this makes me believe its undervolting.

Yes, i have enabled that in the bios. Thats to prevent droop under load though where as mine just seems to be undervolting.

Ive just checked in the bios and with 1.55v set it shows 1.44v in Hardware monitor in bios. Is yours similar ?

The beeping the board makes when shutting down, or rebooting is in my opinion due to the way the board handles power from the pci-e connectors on the psu to the g80. If there is not enough residual power left when the caps on the psu are discharding during shutdown, the gtx percieves this to mean there is not enough power to run it and so the piezzo speaker leaves out a little squeal but as the system is shutting down it only lasts a milli second. This is what tech support in Etasis told me when I queried this on my last rig. I thought the psu was dodgy. It was an Abit IN9 32X-MAX mobo. Is now happening on this board with a Corsair 620 HX and they more or less told me the same. I know of other people who have had it with PC Power and Cooling and Silverstone PSU's too. It seems to be unique to certain boards, G80, and psu configs.

The other issue I was having with this board was it would not boot up from power on when cold, the windows loading screen would hang. But if I hit the reset button it would reboot fine. Sorted it this morning by setting USB Legacy support from auto to off and now no issues. Boots from cold everytime. Done no clocking yet, as cpu cooler is knackered, but system seems very stable. Done a dual boot install of XP Pro and Vista this morning.

Just installed my Leadtek G80 Ultra, and about to install my new TR Ultra 120 Extreme...will make sure to leave plastic on X-bracket this time. Hopefully I will be able to remove the old x-bracket which is stuck on the board without too much trouble.

I get that beep, too. I must admit, it gave me quite a fright when it first happened; i mean, on my first reboot i hear this loud high-pitched beep and all my fans spin down. It's not exactly confidence-inspiring, is it?

Good luck with your new Ultra-120, Flanno, i hope it works out better than your first one!

Just installed 0403 bios and they have added Northbridge strap any idea what it will do for us ?

Hi cant see anything else , still booted with the same values in all settings which was about my max
will run some benchies and set strap and see what happens

They had that strap optpion on the Badaxe 2 and DFI RD600, it only caused me headaches tbh because if you have it too low with a high FSB it wouldnt boot.

OK, sounds good. Be sure to report back with your results. ;)
I'd be interested to see what kind of difference it makes.

The only thing that I have gained since the stock bios is better memory overclocking, the stock bios HATED dividers and it has improved since then, this one seem to be better for overclocking again however I don't intend to touch my oc till a bit more info is covered on the new features (over 0311) and I have more spare time on my hands. :)

Release date was 12/06/07 so its about 4 weeks newer , i just set my northbridge strap to 333 which is max and although benchmarks havent changed it boots quicker and seems quicker between menus to me
