What is the best set up / tactic with the assault class?

I've fully unlocked the recon and I'm over half way through the medic and engineer, all of which are pretty clear what their role is, and when used in the right situation are pretty easy to rack up loads of points. But I can't seem to get the same number of points with the assault class, when pushing forward I tend to just get mowed down by camping medics with M60s! I get a few points from dropping ammo boxes for people, but considering most people die before they need amo (apart from recon) I don't really see the advantage in this class over medics for the team. The assault rifles seem no better than the LMG, and the grenade launcher seems less effective than rockets.

Any tips?

dont rush in so fast, the rifles are more accurate than LMGs so take a few down from range.
The launcher is less effective than rockets yes... but you've got an ammo box and a far superior weapon to the engineer so its not like you would be given something on par as an assault is it? I rarely use the nade launcher, I only use it when attacking Mcom stations to be honest, it knocks down walls etc still.

Try and move slower with assault, chuck an ammo box next to you and if theres people needing ammo theyll probably sit near you for a bit, then when you move up you'll inevitably have people following you

Cheers, I'll give that a go, I probably am a little over enthusiastic / impatient when it comes to attacking. I like the idea of bringing people to you, before I've been chucking it near people then pressing forward, so will give that a shot too.

Guess I'm just missing not having something alternate to do - reviving / repairing / spotting, need to take my time and concentrate on shooting :)

I found Assault the hardest to level up since you can't seem to do much assaulting with the initial weapons on iron sights. Once I hit the motherload on Nelson Bay popped over a ridge with a full squad spawn of attackers underneath. I just about to throw a nade then let the launcher loose and a squady spawns behind me instantly spraying, drawing attention and gets me instakilled.

Unlocked everything now apart from the last assault weapon and engineer weapon but I am still sticking with the M60 regardless of the changes :D

I hope it hasn't been submitted yet some of the changes seem a bit ill thought out like those to Sniper rifles primary aimed at Hard Core mode, but also affecting core. I don't like the changes to the RPG's either and it looks like flying lessons will be ultra short too. I'm not looking forward to being on the receiving end of 3 motion sensors either.

Not sure how far you are with the Assualt class but use the smoke launcher rather than the 'nade launcher. This will allow you to either put a screen up between you and the enemy when cappin' flags/taking mcomm's and can also let you (and your team) get out of a sticky situation if you are pinned down somwhere.

It's one thing I don't think is used enough but when used correctly can have a massive impact for you and your team. Besides that try not to rush in like mentioned, the rifles are pretty accurate and can take targets down pretty easy from range.

I found assault by far the quickest and easiest to level up, You have a gun that can take on anyone, close range no probs, long range no probs (snipers are easy) guy on heavy MG.. nade him up. If you manage to get into a half decent squad the points will fly in

On the flip side has any one got any tips for the engineer class? Most people seem to just drive off mid repair and I can't really seem to find a way to get constant points with this class.

Lots of landmines :) Drop em all over the place but more specifically drop at least one in the shadows that cross the road as that'll make them harder to spot by the tank driver.

Also you'll know most of the routes taken by vehicles storming in so try to drop a few around those spots as fast as you can at the start of the round. Also don't let losing the base stop you from dropping a few more as a present for the attacking teams arrival (and departure).
I've found it can be a good 5mins after losing a base that someone will find a mine I dropped 10mins earlier. I think someone already mentioned dropping them in the shallows on maps with boats.

Rocket launchers are pretty useful for taking down snipers, and highlighting them with the scope for assist points.

As for the wallies who drive away while you're repairing, well the only real solution to that is to have a squad on comms so they appreciate your efforts! ;)

Becoming more and mroe tedious with this now as people in Squads dont bother playing any of their roles, sharing any packs, or even bothering to try/ attack bases in Rush mode.

You got to pay with people you know after a certain time. I never play this game on my own anymore. Probably only get in around 3 hours a week at the moment now as that's the only time me and 2 of my mates are usually on.

Found my first booster last night, was behind emery lines spotting when i saw someone jump on a quad bike so was about to spot them when they drove to the back of there camp which was thinking was a bit strange so went to have a look and there they were driving the quad into a wall to damage it and them jumping off to repair to boost there points

well i let them do it a few times and them gave them a bullet to the head

I remember people use to boost in BFBC by flipping over a jeep while someone is in it and the rest of the squad repairs it.
