I've heard that changing the sound to War Tapes in the settings (instead of hi-fi or headphones) gives a much better audio experience. However when I use that it is really crackly. Has anyone else experienced this?

Got my code last night via the EA system. Just after 00:00 they emailed me so I can install it now with the proper activation code!

Thanks for your help last night Squirrel, much appreciated. I assume that I can use my bonus code to unlock things in game when I load up?

Hopefully get a game with everyone soon ;)
 
Had a stab at single player quickly this morning which was fun! Only issue is that the game won't accept my CD key, it just kept saying that my key was already in use. Anyone else on steam have this issue? I've now contacted Steam support so hope to get it resolved.

A good part of me wants to swap my gtx260 to get dx11 but I'm fighting that urge.. for now.

Yeah, under multiplayer there is a redeem code bit where you can get your bonus content.

Few others floating around youtube, do you use X-FI? I know users of that get crackling with it, other than that not sure what causes it, maybe check you aren't running any equalizers in your driver settings or w/e.

The 6 unlocks consist of the tracer dart gun, m1911 pistol (awesome pistol) etc. All the unlocks do is allow you access to the items straight away. If you didnt have the code you would have to play the game and unlock the items as you rank up.

Played a few games last night, firstly i like the game and enjoyed it. BUT waiting for data and friends list is sooooooo bad its unreal. Me and a mate tried for about 20 mins trying to add each other, sending requests and waiting for requests, still didnt add him to my list.
 
I cant hear footsteps when someones behined me, I was a sniper and someone managed to sneak behined me and stab me in the back GRRRR... I swear I didnt hear a thing, did he have some sort of perk or are you silent if you crouch?

Im suing an XFI Gamer with a headset and ingame sound is set to HIFI. XFI console has CMS3d enabled and it works fine for other games. also dont you feel theres just too much sound in the game, like random explosions you can hear that explode no where near you and ambient sounds, makes it harder to pinpoint where enemies are from sound

"C'mon postie, FU Postie, etc"

And in the evenings it's:

"FUUUUUUUUUU STEAM/Servers"

Classic stuff :) For the most it seems to be working though and I am looking forward to getting home today and giving the MP a whirl!

I assume punkbuster just runs in the back ground once you have installed it all and you don't need to worry about it?

I was about to post something very similiar. I dont think the positional audio on this game is any good (certainly for me using headphones).

It sounds good in terms of explosions etc, but not if you need to detect where someone is.
 
I think War-tapes + Speakers is stunning, probably the best part of the game :)

Not so sure on headphones as I don't own a pair.

That made me laugh, very true indeed :D


punkbuster does just run withouut you having to interact with it, although downloading an update for it was a bit of a faff, had to open a html page save it to the pb folder inside the BC2 folder and then launch the game and it auto updates :eek:
