*** Official BioShock 2 Thread ***

Er, you only get Big Sister attacks when you've saved all the Sisters in that area, saving 2/3 wouldn't trigger it.

I've been playing through on Hard, Rivet Gun was fully upgraded immediately thanks to its 1 shot kill potential with headshots and the burning is nice for everything. Defending a little sister by that point i just put down a Mini-Turret or 2 and hung around doing whatever i needed with regular or Anti-Personal ammo. I've always got above $600 available and normally hang around near the $800 cap with pretty full amounts of ammo for all guns and 6/6 Kits/Hypos. I'll sometimes burn through a few kits when defending but with Spider Splicer Organs from when they've attacked its not much of an issue.

On a side note, does anyone enjoy using the Drill Rush? I love it vs Houdini Splicers... they appear, i zap them, i charge towards them and knock them straight down. Never gets old.

Yeah the drill dash is awesome, although i was a bit disappointed it did hardly any damage at all to a Big Daddy.

A good way i found of taking down a Big Daddy was to make a big line of trap rivets on the floor leading away from the BD and then set him alight and watch him rush toward me setting off all the traps :D. Then just a couple of heavy rivets to the face and he was out.

Personally I found circle-strafing with the drill (with all upgrades) to be very effective against Big Daddies, they rarely get more than a few hits on me. Throw in a lv 2 Winter Blast when they are below 50% and they drop incredibly fast.

I found hypnotize fully upgraded, the cyclone trap to lvl 2 and winters blast a good combo to gathering on hard, lay down the traps with winetrs blast and they get throwing into the air frozen then usually shatter ethier when they hit the roof or floor and the hypnotize gives back up till you get it to full for some daddy loving.

This cyclone trap sounds cool, going to have to get that this time round.

It's ridiculously overpowered and probably the most fun plasmid of the lot besides maybe lv3 Incinerate...."BY FIRE BE PURGED!".

Anyway Cyclone trap, yeah it's awesome, especially if you can catch a splicer jumping off a ledge so he lands on one. I love the fact you can charge them with elements as well though using anything but Fire is kinda pointless unless you REALLY want something stunned and can't be arsed to do it yourself, it's also less funny.

Something else that never gets old, sticking one on the ceiling and watching a spider splicer cannon into the floor, on fire, then being cannoned into the ceiling, again on fire, because you set one underneath it as well.

On a side note, did anyone else feel really let down by the lack of "scary/crazy/funny" moments? In B1 we had the "What can I do with this one Aphrodite? she won't, stay, STILL!" followed by "an intruder....he's ugly...ugly....UGLY...UGGGLLLLYYYYYYY!", or the silent white spider splicers half way through fort frolic, the introduction of the Houdini splicers or any other of the many memorable scenes...Bioshock 2 just...didn't have any of this, was really annoying for me.

Totally agree, severely lacked in this game!

Fort Frolic was just epic with the dance at the start!

There were a few little things but not as many as the first.

**SPOILER**

When you're going to rescue the little sisters near the end and a ball suddenly bounces round the corner, that was pretty cool. Reminded me of the Shining.

Bioshock 2 lacked so much the more and more I think about it it gets further and further away from the masterpiece that was the original :(

I guess I'll be reminded of this when I replay BioShock

That's what I'm doing, what makes it better is that because there so very little visual difference between the two you lose practically nothing.

I mean where are the epic moments like the dancers on a string part just as you get into fort frolic, those moments which stop you dead in your tracks for minutes in awe. I had none of that in bs2.

Or the part where you get to ryans offices, or the first time you enter rapture, or maybe when you meet fontaine etc or perhaps see your first big daddy!

Ok ill stop ranting now :p

When i first saw a Big Daddy in BS1 i was thinking it was like an end boss or something and that the kid was evil and controlled it :D. I didn't really know much about the game at all when i first played it, I only bought it as it was going for £3.50 on steam, soooo glad i did.

I think you're right about the first being better. I think its the fact that as we have already experienced rapture once its not as special the second time. It'll be interesting to see where the 3rd game is set, I cant see them setting it in rapture again. Splicers invading the surface could be interesting...

The research of Bioshock always drove the fun out of it for me. Thankgod they improved it to a video really, taking pictures of splicers jumping at you for the 'action bonus' got old.

I've not actually bought any new plasmids. Still using Electro Bolt, Telekinesis and Incinerate. I guess i should've tried out Cyclone but i'm still trying to max out my tonic slots first, since you get so many of them that could be helpful.

Have to admit, BS2 isn't doing what BS1 did for me. Its just not grabbing me like the first one did.

I think playing as the big daddy is a bit of a cop out. I'd rather play as just some dude like in the first one.

I'm the same i only seem to use Electric Bolt and Incinerate, you can get through using just them two very easily.

I'm still really enjoying it mind you.

I use Winter blast for most enemies, it makes big daddies / sisters very easy - freeze - drill - freeze - drill - dead :D
