Official Crysis Demo thread

Sit down!

It's always been the a Friday Release, which happens to be Today and also the 26th.

Last i read the majority of people that preordered the game still cant play it without messing around with the editor, even at that it seems to be only a few people that can actually get it to run for any amount of time. Might be the same for us IF it gets released today.

lol now even CVG are falling for it.........that crysisdemo.com is NOT official, its been said everywhere, seems CVG seem to think it is.
So i wouldn't bet my wages on it being totally correct.

However!!! the Early release (beta!) demo was released roughly 11PM GMT (12AM DST) last night, so heres to it being the same time but tonight instead ......obviously that would make it 24 hours after...............but this is EA we're talking about.......................................

We'll be lucky if we get it today at all.

Apparently new nvidia drivers are being released today to coinside with the demo release. Hopefuly performance will iincrease because 7-10 FPS on very high DX 10 is shocking for saying crysis is supposed to be very well optimised.

not really, just remember, dozens, hundreds of games use super high ultra settings to add frankly some ridiculous features that offer no IQ bonus. maybe this will, maybe it will simply triple draw distance which you simply can't see for 95% of the time, wait and play the demo.

fear had soft shadows which actually just made the edges hazy and look completely crap, while crippling performance. most people didnt' like the soft shadows, played without them and had far better performance. so maybe very high doesn't even look noticeably better than high, or maybe its a texture option, or a draw distance, or something else that kills performance.

apologies for taking thread slightly off topic

In all fairness mate, it's hardly been about the game has it - it's mostly been about people getting impatient and moaning that the release time hasn't rolled around yet. Hardly topical discussion, personally I reckon 90% of posts need to be pruned - or better yet this thread closed then another fired up when it's been released.

2p.

Well from that screenshot, Very High has a noticable difference compared to high.

I really cant believe people would think the demo is going to run so much better, its obviouse it was not from the Beta demo, other companys have made out there games going to run really good in the past when really, they havent, and here it is again, not surprising at all tbh, over at this crysissector forum people were buying there GTS 640's and 320's to run this game on "Very High  ", not they are going to get a shock coz they cant and fools for even thinking they can.

So has anyone tried in XP on "Very High" settings or even high? tell me the FPS boost from the Beta client.

Nothing was obvious from the beta, the fact is the beta only used one core and according to many people was running a background program to keep track of crashes etc. The full game supports multi core and obviously won't have any debugging software or whatever running in the bakground sucking up cpu cycles.

3 discs?

Oooooh is this the Special Edition that we'll be getting from that well known games retailer?

I love a tin case :p

Hi - if you read though that thread, those screenshots were taken from within the editor, not the actual demo. The textures and res were also probably overloading his 320mb GTS as well. Consider that the editor isn't optimised for actually playing the game, the fact that new nvidia drivers are coming out for this soon (today) and that this was maxed out and performance may actually be quite good under normal circumstances.

Take the above into account the above and that guy was playing at 1680x800 (16:9 version of 1680x1080) on absolute max settings and would probably be getting 15-20fps on optimised code with only a 320mb GTS on the best looking game ever? Not bad - drop down to more realistic high settings and everyone with an 8800x has probably got an extremely nice looking game at 30fps.

I doubt the editor is multi threaded either.

Wait and see! Be optimistic ;)

Nice. I was one of the chumps who pre-ordered, but nothing appears in my download manager. I can view the order info in the EA store, but get an "internal Application Error" if I try and view the invoice. Meanwhile the status is "Order Submitted".

So I tried to cancel the order, but I can't find my way through the impenetrable labrynth that is EA's customer support site. You have to choose a specific game in order to submit a question, but naturally there's no way to choose "Crysis" and I'll bet if I choose the wrong game I'll be ignored. And of course, the phone numbers provided on the support site don't accept queries regarding EA Download Manager.

Nice one, EA. I feel like a really valued customer!
