Official Crysis Demo thread

each to their own, i prefer substance over aesthetics plus im an old git so dont fall for the garnish tbh ... like i said its great in the gfx department but ever since Deus Ex i havent played anything that can compare or offer me a truly great experience .. i know on some forums ive seen people say things like 'omg most amazing game ever !!!' which you have to take with a pinch of salt i guess, but im being honest, i have played better

I think in all honesty nobody can rate the demo anyways. Buy the full game, play it through then see how the score improves.

Anyone else get a weird colour on grass/busshes/tress in the back ground?

Like that? I'm using the Crysis drivers, Vista x64, 8800GTX.

just played it on XP aswell as vista, and on xp all high, its well optimised compaired to the beta, on the MP beta i couldnt run all high because fps was crap, but now it runs smoothe as silk all high on xp.

im going to take a high vs very high screenshot ina sec :)

Just replayed the demo now, set the gfx to all high but turned shadows to low and shaders to medium, the game looks good still but runs silky smooth.
My fps are now average about 40/50.
I know some ppl say fps aint everything, but I cant play a fps with 20fps, I just cant aim or enjoy the game

I just keep doing the SP on Easy mode but doing it different ways. Last time I changed my gun to dart mode and put the enemies to sleep, then went in with pistol w/ silencer to the head. Great stuff.

Is anyone here running the demo on a 2900XT?
Everyone seems to be on 88's, just wondering how it runs with Ati cards, seeing as Nvidia driver seem to causing so many problems

I tried the benchmarks and got about 17fps in each of them which is what I get in the game roughly. The good thing is my cpu can cope and the fps doesnt drop from that at all.
x1950pro, all high, 720p

3.4ghz conroe has both cores at 75%, it never gets maxed out. Im going to try the cpu test on the lowest res though and vice versa

This game doesnt take much memory does it, about 1.2gig ?

I just loaded the map in the editor, applied i helicopter to it and layed out a tornado, joined the game hopped into the chopper and followed the tornado watching it wreak havok on the land. Sucking boats and koreans high up into the air... awesome! It doesn't half get dusty too lol. Especially when i added another 6 tornados, watching them dance around eachother was really very very realistic! :D

I take it the demo supports multi core processors then?

Not sure if i can be bothered downloading a 1.8gb demo. I might do if it will give me a chance to unlock my quads full potential.

Looks pretty fantastic on medium @1280x1024 and I'm chuffed that it's running at a decent enough FPS that its playable and enjoyable.

(C2D @ 2.1ghz, 2gb Ram and 1950pro)

Thanks gord for the editor tips.

Does anyone know what you have to press/what mode to be in to do a choke move?

Just done a full set of benchies:

Thats with:

E6600 @ 3.2Ghz
4GB PC6400 @ 4-4-4-12
8800GTX @ 630/2000

EDIT: Res should read 1680x1050, damn typos!

I've just installed and come across a problem. I don't really want to read through 38 pages to see if someone else has had this issue so I'll just ask away.

Basically when the game starts, my textures are this: http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/6/10/27/f_lamem_d9d1a47.jpg

I'm going to update my drivers (definitely out of date, TF2 asks me to update each time I load it up). I'm just curious if there's a setting or something that might be causing it.
