Official Crysis Demo thread

I prefer the peeps in HL2 not enviro and thats my choice, and as nice as Crysis looks in places its not worth the FPS kick in the teeth over HL2.

So LOL yourself.

Artistically I think HL has more going for it, but in terms of sheer realism Crysis does win, hands down. The character models are technically better in Crysis, we can pretty much call that fact.

Perhaps you prefer Half Life character interaction and emotional involvement. This is a different discussion all together.

Clearly helmut is talking complete crap, it's already very apparant he has some attitude issues and needs to sort them out.

More eye candy folks.

nah not yet, i am trying my best not to fire it up again as i have coursework to do for uni
I was really looking forward to this as its the first (imo) real dx10 game :/, now im pondering cancelling my pre-order if it is going to run like this

give it a try in xp....its much smoother even if the fps dont look any different.

I've been playing it most of today and I'm well happy, and thoroughly looking forward to the full game. I found that my 7950GX2 will clock to 600Mhz and possibly further (never bothered to overclock it before) and that gives it enough clout (Dual core Opteron at 2.4Ghz and 2GB RAM) to run everything on high except shadows, volumetrics and particles which are all on Medium. And the game looks great, absolutely great. No idea what fps- personally I couldn't care less about the fps figure as long as the game is playable, and I find it very playable.

Hopefully the game will keep the "go anywhere, do anything" feeling further into the story- Far Cry kind of lost the sandbox approach after the first few levels.

Is there any way at all to edit a map and then play it back actually in game as opposed to running it from sandbox editor?

I'm just chuffed that I can play it with quite so good settings. I tried all on high @ 1440x900 (no AA) but it was quite chuggy so I just dropped the res down to 1280x800 and all is good. That's with a stock clocked e6300 + 256mb x1950xt and 2gb of ram.

It really is a breathtakingly beautiful game at times.

argh, some of you guys whinging about how crap it is because your uber spec cant max it out are really ******* me the **** off.

it's already been stated you will NOT be able to max it out, it is designed to be a game which will still look fresh in a year, 2 years, maybe even 3 years time.

i dont get what you are crying about any freaking way, i'm playing at 1360x786 (iirc) at medium and it looks lush, best visual wise i've ever played, it really is the dogs, stop ******** and start playing and enjoying it.

i myself have completed the demo in both medium and hardest, my biggest gripe is that hardest isn't hard enough...i died less (once) than on normal (thrice) :(

I don't see the point in being a slave to an arbitrary FPS count. Reduce the settings untill you get an acceptable level of performance, and I'll bet that it still looks better than HL2.

The Crysis DEV's in a interview not so long ago said it will run at mid RES's with High settings on a 8600GTS and to run higher you need a better card (guessing 8800's).

So you happy being told BS ?, cause I cant run it well at Highest with my res as low as 1280x960, now this is nearly 2008, I game at 1920x1440 ideally, and all other games in Lost Planet (buggy port) and HL2 etc run really well maxed.

Crysis may look better but even half the FPS would be good not 1/4 or 1/8 of what I get in other games.

I hope this is a buggy Demo and the final will be far better and all debug code removed and better Nvidia driver for the launch, not half baked one.

BTW, I know the 8000's tech is 1year old but there aint anything better today so what can we run the game on ?.

They can also scale the game into the future tech's with patches no problems, but they should optimise it for todays tech IMO.

Quoted " Clearly helmut is talking complete crap, it's already very apparant he has some attitude issues and needs to sort them out."

Tom|Nbk is full of it and does not like anyone having an opinion as I have in this thread, everything I said was IMO, I just dont like ignorent peeps saying "LOL" etc as I aint "LOL'ing" at them liking Crysis.

He is well disliked here and changes his story daily as threads show and also causes arguements but unlike rest of us gets out of it with his smart talk crap (always innocent) for a fact now he is on ignore forever.

Here's a batch of screenshots I took as I progressed through the game. I haven't finished compiling them quite yet, as I get a rather low framerate whilst playing at full detail. You may have seen these on another forum, but... oh well. Lossless @ 1920 x 1200!
