Official Crysis Demo thread

true.

farcry was great too

You agree with that? I think its technically nothing like farcry, fair enough the game style / genre is the same but its a totally new game in a totally new engine with a totally new slant.

Load FC up and have a go, i did before and i have to confess i laughed a bit lol :p

Wonder if this works on Vista.

" Tweak 1:
Open Crysis then alt tab and press ctrl alt delete. In your processes tab right click crysis.exe and set priority to high or real time. (I'm using high).

Tweak2:
I updated to the drivers I'm currently using now. (163.71)

Tweak3:
Use the Crysis program settings in Nvidia control panel and force Vsync on.

* With resolution on 1680x1050 I'm now getting 30-35fps to my previous 15-20.
* Drop from 1680x1050 to 1280x1024 and I get 40-45 to my previous 20- 25
* With lower resolutions such as 1024x768 I'm now getting 50-60 to my previous 30.

Hopefully with the full release people with specs similar to mine can look at getting 40-60fps in 1680x1050. Would be nice. Nice game and runs smoothly with a little tweaking."

I did notice these drivers are more stable and the new ones gave me no more FPS only crashes from games Video menu.

Nice one, this ramped up my FPS considerably on Vista 64 bit, was a little unstable and did give me a TDR error.

Trust Nvidia to release a driver (169.01) for a game which actually prevents the game from launching.

That was not my info and I dont see why V-Sync would help esp as I dont use/need on CRT but wont get high enough frames to get even near 60HZ/FPS anyhow.

Can you input more like your driver now used and FPs b4 and after etc (or was it the buggy new beta) as you did this on Vista64. thanks :)

BTW, not sure if its true about you need to launch the game from the Crysis 64bit folder to get it running in DX10, what way you doing it ?.

Glad it helped you anyhow as this thread is going southwards with arguements which aint really helping anyone.

Played them demo for a couple of hours today and loved it, spent so long playing with the new abilities and using them to approach enemy camps in different ways, and of course collapsing every shack on the island :D.
Really does feel bigger and better than far cry, and scored well on one of my primary ways of rating a game - the number of times i shout at the gf to "look at this!", "wow did you see that!!", i generally know its a good game by the time shes screamed at me to shut up ;).

Compared to the stepup from Far Cry to Crysis, CoD4 feels like a yearly fifa style update.

@Helmut. it doesnt matter who i am, and i was quite obviously addressing you. thats why i put @Helmut at the bit addressing you.

dont be a child about it. i am not "dissing" you or anyone who dislikes crysis. im pointing out posting a review to try and attempt to close a pitiful argument is not the final say of the matter. i have not stated whether i am happy or upset with performance so how can you randomly attack me for being a "hater". nor have i stated you should shut up about your opinions, simply advising you to drop your argument with Tom. its incredibly boring to read.
i pointed out this is especially when the opinion is blatantly based on a personal experience. something you cant argue against.

its a Demo. there are hardly any decent drivers out (especially for ATI) and i understand it doesnt use all the cores fully yet. the game is obviously going to be tweaked and patched so i find it hard to understand why your getting so worked up about it. its only a game.

Your the one getting worked up so get over it, least posts from me like above could and have helped someone.

And Tom is a troll, he does it in many threads and its got nothing to do with you (he started the crap tonight if you read fully above a few pages back and you why you so bothered with him).

I reported him again and added to perm ignore and i aint the only one to do so.

You input adds nothing to this this thread thats good.

I have added its a demo, may be buggy and I hope final is better, I have added tweaks from others and added links to Info that some may like to read.

technically they are worlds apart.....it is the same type of game though.
crysis just has probably the best graphics to date of any game on any platform.
also pretty much fully destructable enviroments(how many times do we see that on the box?)
and a nano suit thown in for fun.

it does have far more replayability than farcry though with being able to kill the enemy so many more ways now...objects...explosions...weapons...stealth kills/sleeper darts...strangulations lol.

Well the demo runs fine for me, very smooth considering how good it looks

I took some screenies which can be found here

http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/wizardskills/crysis/

1920 * 1200, Max Everything except post processing and shadows which are on med, no AA.

Average arround 30 fps, Pre-order will now be placed :D

Thats good info m8, but again you have 4GB, I think I need be back on 4GB.

Did you mess with other mixes of settings and find thats best, inc lower res with higher settings ?.

I just changing the priority to high and its really smooth now @ 1920 X 1200 all very high, no AA etc. But the video driver failed and kicked me to windows. But that happened before this so its prolly just a fluke. Any way of giving the crysis.exe this priority permanently without having to ALT CTRL DEL?

Not to my knowledge, you do it every time unless there is way to edit some game ini or inf file to make it higher like some APP's do by default.

Likewise can you add more info cause I got that info from Crysis forums but it was XP.

What is your RIG's spec and before and after FPS and on newest beta driver or other ?

Thanks.

(BBL after tv and change clocks back 1 hour)

Just play it, for all it look pretty i thought it played like crap :/ to hard to see people, ammo few and far between (at least if you stay in the car) and the strengths crap...bah, will probably get it but i will lend it off someone.

im not getting worked up, you reacted badly to my points however. i would ask how a random review, not stating the drivers will help people when throughout the thread people people have given much more accurate information throughout,
whilst you did supply some helpful links it doesnt mean the rest of your posts should be ignored.
you are posting on a public forum, what you post is read by everyone, saying it doesnt concern anyone else defeats the whole point of the board.

either way, the demo has run ok on my system, high everything, very high shaders and medium post processing with no AA, looks lovely, still get a bit of a stutter once a lot of things happen and the mouse still needs to be tuned but overall a enjoyable experiance, especially walking to the boat. the shading on the rocks on the path is lovely. running at 1024x1024 btw

i suspect driver + relatively old/low bandwidth memory, small CPU cache (which crysis seems to like) and small amount of ram for my gfx has something to do with it. however drivers and some patching should help smooth those occasional ruff bits i think.
