Official Crysis Demo thread

Runs a bit poo on mine, think i am going to HAVE to upgrade the gpu now because of this, dont really want to spend much though, whats my best bet?

C2D @3.2
3Gigg Ram
X1800XT 256Mb

Ive got the same card. Works great with everything in medium and low shadows. (1280x768 res)

Sure its going to kill it with everything on highest but what do u expect from a x1800 when 8800GTX machines are getting 15fps or something

(i dont mind about fps but anything below 25 starts getting unplayable and below 20 is pretty darn cack

Just played through this again in vista x64 to see how it was in 64-bit mode and it was actually much nicer this time around. Using the latest nvidia drivers I was able to get 30+fps most of the time aside from really heavy firefights which is 10fps more than I got in 32-bit vista. (I'm running everything medium with shaders high @ 1280x1024 16xaf 0xaa)

I'm hopeful that by the time the game is released there will be some fresh drivers (to fix the white trees) and some more tweakage to the game so that it'll be more consistent.

Either way, what a game :)

Well installed this yesterday and have played at a guess about over half way through the demo on the rig in my sig below.

Ive had a good mess about with all the settings and i set everything to very high apart from shaders and shadows which i put to high(shaders for me @very high seems to cane the performace by a good 5-10fps which is a shame though as it looks amazing on very high, although it does on high aswell.)

With this i get between 20-35 fps and i would say it averages around the 30fps or slightly lower and am using the latest crysis beta nvidia drivers.

The thing is ive noticed and has been said by numerous others is at around 30 fps or just above or below it does feel very smooth like console games do @30fps because normally other pc games i have..etqw ect..feel stuttery and crap when running at around 30fps.

One thing i did once i settled on my gfx settings was simply to switch fraps off which when its on i spend more time looking at the blooming framerate meter than the stunning gfx of the game!

One question though. I set my res to 1680x1050(samsung 226bw monitor) but cant see any of the lower 16:10 res like 1280x800?.

Any ideas why?

Apart from that think its fantastic and each time i play it something different happens in the way you can approach and kill enemies.

I wasn't very impressed with the "alien" that appears from the ship at the end of the demo. looked like it was drawn by a five year old.

Well the SP demo runs like a sloth through treacle for me whereas the MP demo runs really well.

PC Spec is:

Q6600 @3.0 GHz
8800 GTX
4Gb RAM
Vista x64

'K'asian chicken anyone? I feel like chicken tonight, like chicken tonight!

Talos chickens! You'll know what i'm talking about if you've seen Jason and the argonauts ;)

im running the 7.10's but without the CCC as i get artifacts like crazy if i install it.

x1950pro 256mb

Thanks buddy.

Damn I guess :( Same card with same drivers yet it crashes or I just get horrible graphical problems (which carries over to the desktop etc, I need to reset).

cant see anything when I play it! :(

Loads up fine, I see the cinematic screenie, thats works, looks fantastic

i goto video setting and change the res to 1680x1050 (my native res)
then i clicked on "optimal settings" it changed everything to LOW

Then i go to play game and everything keeps going blacvk, when i free fall at the beginning soon as i start looking down screen goes black , i have to keep level to see whats going on, very weird, i guess i need to update my drivers, its been a while!

are the ATI 7.10's the best to use?

Yeah probably is a driver issue mate. I had old drivers and was getting black textures and stuff.

I'll be gutted if I can't get this to work for release. Graphics aside, I really enjoy playing it.

I'm going to roll back to 7.9. Wish me luck :(
