Official Crysis Demo thread

Do we need a Crysis 'sticky' with tweaks & how to get around the bugs?
49 pages for a demo FFS, theres gonna be some good intel here but sifting through all these pages is a joke.

Is everyone planning on ditcing their 8800GTX to get the 9800GTX next yearish just to max crysis out on vista ?

I have to say (awaits a flaming), I think this is one of the few games where a Agiea PhysX GPU would actually help noticibly.............Yeah Im running dual core, yes some of you are running quad, but as more cores get fed data then the bandwidth to them drops, i.e. reports here of on -some- setups dual beating quad setups......

it *does* make more sense to pack up the geometry data into small 'over pci' packets and allow a PPU to do the difficult number crunching, removing that physics bandwidth eating data between ram and cpu2

shame they went for there own physics engine :(

While it -is- great, im not seeing loads of not seen in HL2, the only big thing is more destructable environments, and that at best is :S, the tree's are not anything special as far as physics goes, its just there destructable.

Discuss

HL2 plays out on a set path ...you kill things in a set order which is fun in its own way but nothing like crysis.

Anyone not getting any moblur or DOF in the demo? I've got all settings on very high apart from shadows, textures and shaders beucase they actually make no visual difference. Would really like some moblur/DOF though :/

I found that shaders made a big difference between "Medium" and "High" in DX9. Looks a lot less cartoon-ish on "high".

DX9 - 10 Comparisons...

If these are real.. then DX10 looks like a must to me!

1st screenshot wow i didnt even notice those waves when i tried DX10
2nd screenshot just looks like a different time of day
3rd screenshot...lots more foliage..nice
4th screenshot...erm is it meant to show physics ?

im gonna go load it up in DX10 and check them waves out lol

A little underwhelmed by it so far.

Finally had chance to install the download this morning, set everything on high (very high greyed out as I'm on XP/DX9), bit of extra blood, AA 4x, and 1600x900 (highest in the list ????? )
Brought the rig to a standstill (well ok about 8 FPS) unplayable like that TBH

Duo core 6600 @3.2GHZ
Twin 1950XTX 512MB in crossfire
2GB...... (edit this in a mo as I forgot lol)
Bad axe M/B
Latest ATI /catalyst drivers.

Thought it would do better TBH. :(

Got to say, I'm loving it. Definately buying this.

I have everything set on Very High (except Postprocessing, which I have set to medium cause anything higher and the blur effect makes me feel sick after half an hour), 1280x1024, AAx2. Runs nice enough and looks absolutely stunning.

DX10/Vista 32bit.
AMD X2 4200
Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb (running the nvidia crysis drivers 169.01)
3GB ram

4800x2 & GTS 640MB. In xp the game plays fine at 1900x1200 on high even in firefights, benchmarks show Im getting ~20fps. In vista64 I have to play on medium or it runs like a dog (using the just released beta driver)

What I was very suprised at was during the cpu benchmark both cores dont max out, they hit about 70%

I think you might be right, I had a suspicion that Crysis and UT3 would benefit well from an Agiea card, in fact someone was selling one on the MM last week for a great price, I was really tempted just for UT3, but resisted.
Kind of regret it now that Crysis looks like it'd benefit too :(

Got the SP demo from nzone last night.

Tried it on auto detect and it set everything on high (DX9 XP) and I manually set it to 1920x1200 (2407 Dell) with 8x AA and extra blood.

I also installed the latest DX9c and the 169.01_forceware_winxp_32bit_english_beta.exe driver.

Spec:

Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6600 2.40GHz
Asus P5B Deluxe
2GB Corsair XMS2-6400C5 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 640MB

Overall it is nice and smooth. I get some slow down when the enemies appear, but it is very playable.

I think I will be playing on a lower setting though, 1280 x 1024, but the options allow me to go all the way upto 3840 x 1024 (TripleHead2Go Digital).

Graphically it is stunning!

But the devs have said on many occasions that Crysis wont take advantage of ageia cards..
