Official Crysis Demo thread

@ XysteR, According to Crytek's CEO Cevat Yeril, the game is MORE CPU dependant, in order of importance he says CPU, then GPU then Memory.

Something seems wrong with all info on lack of CPU useage and lack of Cores sharing esp so on Quads (lets hope only a Demo bug).

@ JAKUS, I dont get what you are talking about, its not a static screenie, the game is running with the TASK Manager set to "ON TOP", it will show the Cores usage while game still runs.

@ mrk, the info was not mines, it was over on the offical Crysis Forums, there is many threads all over web about lack of use of more then 1 core more so with Quads, either way it should really use a high CPU % same as games should.

Thats very unusual m8

not especially, its because on XP it doesnt have the directx 10 things.

iv ran it on xp and vista both 32bit OS. it runs best on all high on both OS, but obviously when you crank it up to very high the amount of detail, im not supprised that it kills fps.

where are the dx10.1 cards! lol

ive tried it on both xp and vista also(both 32bit) .....regardless of what the fps are showing......its a lot smoother in xp on the same detail level.

Oh, Can anyone here make PDF files? I've gathered all of the Sandbox tutorial files from the website and rescaled and reformatted them all ready to be used in 1 PDF.

Prefer someone who will link all of the headings to the index etc.

Anyone up for doing it?

There seem to be physics differences too, I have a savegame with a hut with 3 barrels in it and a car next to it, in DX10 shooting a barrel blows the whole lot to pieces including the car, in DX9 the car remains pretty much untouched.

Is there a very high physics setting, I didnt think that'd make a difference apart from mp

I’ve been having fun with the Sanbox2 editor (Included within the demo), lots of options still left intact and some that were even nothing to do with the actual demo level. Helicopters, tanks, AA units, some boats, the Scout Alien (sadly he’s AI options are missing) and one well nasty big gun, all work and good laugh although some sounds effects absent. Best of all is environment Tornado's, random destruction on a mass scale & they show off the engine's amusing side.

Managed to get the section just after the end of demo working, can find out what happens to Jester with 2mins effort if you can be bothered...;)

Retracting all my bad statements about this game. I formatted my computer today and installed the new Nvidia drivers. The game runs great now, not getting anything under 30 FPS in actual gameplay. Loving it so far.

Ive been messing around with triple tornadoes that whip up boats, roofs ,bits of trees & yourself if you run into one lol & now experimenting with earthquakes, I notice that when you drop yourself into the level you can continue playing the game complete with all your additions:D

High = DX9

Very High = DX10

Pretty sure that's it, anyway. (Some are available in DX9 as well like god rays but can't be enabled without editing the config)

On my E6600, it still doesn't seem to max one core on it's own, one just hovers around 28%-31% usage, while the other is lower probably at about 20%-25%. That's with me throwing grenades into trees and huts so physics are going on.

maybe depends on your location...last time i had rivatuner running it had one core about 80 and the other upto around 70 at the same time.....not always that high though.

same cpu as yours
