Official Crysis Demo thread

Here's a fun kill, throwing a flaming barrel at the enemy.

Find a red barrel, enable strength mode, shoot once, pick it up and lob at them... trail of fire through the air before boom! :D

PMSL so what is the point in DX10 then, all the fuss made over it and yet all the special DX10 effects can be done in good old DX9 XP.

Someone hand me the biggest roll eyes EVER.
 
the biggest let down for me is AF and AA,

1) Wheres the AF settings? there is none :S

2) Why doesnt AA add transparency AA (addaptive AA) to leaves etc, even when AA is on leaves are jaggid etc

3) Why doesnt the engine let you use your own AA settings in your graphics control panel :(

Since there isn't much difference in perf between dx9 and dx10 on vista you might as well run dx10 high

i suppose dx9 high is for 8800 users only really so they might as well go for dx10

unless they don't have vista.

i have tried dx9 and dx10 defo felt a lot nicer.

I really fail to see how it seemed nicer since it's a fact that Crysis DX10 runs **** poor in comparison to DX9.

You can do DX10 effects in DX9 and get better performance. And yes, there is a BIG difference in performance; DX10 runs like ass!
 
Right just completed the demo.
Its pretty good, although I felt as though I was playing through Far Cry again :)

With the older Nvidia drivers I got 18-20fps everything on high @ 1680x1050
With the new Beta Nvidia Drivers I now get 20-25fps everything on high @ 1680x1050 although played through the whole demo @ medium which ran 40-50fps, dropping below 40 in some sections. I'm running Vista SB x32

Medium graphics looks pretty good and made the game so much smoother.
 
What an embarrassment for Microsoft and DX10, crytek should be ashamed of them selves, just did the hack on XP and omg I'm playing DX10 on XP lol, and it runs way better than it does on Vista.:rolleyes:






 
Id be interested to know what sorta FPS the XP boys are having on similar rigs to mine.

Also did anyone notice that the frozen boat was a FPS killer, mine ran great until this cut scene.

I've downloaded this demo about 5 times now and each time I extract it I get an error CRC failed in vc80_redist\vcredist_x64.exe

Probably won't be able to run it anyway with my rig, but still :mad:

Clean out your temp folder reinstall win zip and try a differnt browser :D

I sincerely doubt that.

Perhaps true for crysis but it can't be true in general otherwise there is no need for dx10.

dx10 is supposed to do dx9 but much faster.

its probably running slow because of vista rather than dx10 being useless.

Well i got a bout 25FPS which is perfectly gameable and looks nice.

Let me try dx9 under vista and check if it does run better.

edit/ dx9 is not much faster at all in any noticable way so dx10 all the way for me :-)
