And Crytek was a bit underhand dissabling high detail textures for DX9...I'm sure they will get publically hammered for that !

No one is getting high fps.....the only people likely to are with SLI or Crossfire and that's not working

But I was already on high. So if the hack hasn't made available very high features then what has it done?

People have posted screenshots comparing the xp hack with vista on very high and they look the same.

I think it was Model detail which was locked at medium
After the hacks I just used the overall setting set to high which before the hack just made everything soft (because this detail setting was locked)

Hmmm seems the sandbox editor is really pretty worthless. I can't apply textures to my terrain layers or anything?

Anyone making maps in this?

Just finished the demo. Played with details on medium, with everything on high it was a little sluggish at times. First impressions are overall good, i'm looking forward to it being released now!

You edit things, but it takes some time and patience to learn. When in the editor press CTRL G and it lets you play the map in the editor, press ESC to exit back to the editor

So i open Crysis then the Editor then hit Ctrl + G?

when i go to install sandbox in vista i get this:

how do i change my privileges, ah vista is annoying

Right click the installer > run as administrator.

Only way I could install it was turning UAC off.

Firstly you need to install the editor from the game folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Sandbox2 Installer\CryEngine(R)2 Sandbox(TM)2.msi

Now you navigate through to the folder where the editor is installed and run it from there:

If your using a 64 bit operating system

C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin64\Editor.exe

For 32 bit:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Bin32\Editor.exe"

Run the editor.exe file, go to 'file' then 'open' then navigate through the game\levels\islands folder to load in the island.cry map

When the map is loaded you use pretty much the same keys as the game along with the right mouse and middle mouse button to move around the world.

When your near the floor press CRTL G to enter the map for a testplay

You can add and change all kinds of stuff but it ends here for me cos i could go on forever, but this will get you moving

Yup you'll have to turn UAC off to install the editor. Then when the editor is installed you can right click on the editor exe and select run as administrator from the properties

Can I run this DX10 "hack" with XP 32bit or does it have to be XP 64bit?

Control panel / User Accounts then just to the left of your account click on the bottom option 'Turn User Account Control on or off' click continue, then untick the option and click ok, it'll want a reboot.. Then install the editor and straight after right click on the editor.exe your gonna use (either in the bin64 or bin32 folder) and select run as administrator in there, be sure to apply those settings, you can then go back to user accounts and tick UAC back on.
