its probably running slow because of vista rather than dx10 being useless.

Uhm... the last 10 pages or so have been harping on about how people have got DX10 features on DX9 mode and XP !!!! Don't insult me ! It's even shown 4 posts above your message !

How relevant is that to anything?

That is just for this one game and not in general so please stoping be aggressive when its clear you are not an expert.

Sure it might look 99% identical atm but dx10 is supposed to run faster as well assuming they fix it for vista properly.

edit/ enabling effects doesn't mean they've got dx10 to work in xp or anything. This is good news for people who haven't got vista though

Well, crysis on XP looks amazing with the hack, you get features that are only suppose to be available in Vista on very high settings aka dx10, Vista is unplayable on very high setting but on XP its so smooth yet so good looking.:D

So you were litrally running Very high in XP?

Its on the file planet website,

you are simply enabling a few effects which crytek had made exclusive to dx10.

Its not running in dx10 mode per se.

The rays of light through the trees looks great and the rainbow effect on the water is a nice liittle touch. Plus my framerate was still as good which was nice.

hey guys i'm little consused the XP patch for dx10 shows light rays is the Vista version Very high? because i using vista and got high settings but dont see rays.

this really sucks
 
It's not a hack, it's simply config files enabling some DX10 ''features'' under DX9. You could do it very easily yourself. It's not DirectX 10 on XP. They probably aren't even DX10 only features.

Ahhh.. i saw the FP link to the modified CVARS but this guy was talking as if he was running in DX10.. a slight difference i would like to point out.. cheers..

Right, im not waiting 30 minutes for these CVARS which are 4.7KB, can someone upload them please?

I might add the features that it does give are bloody good looking and were only available on very high in Vista which is DX10. Imo Xp with this looks on par with Vista DX10 but performs 50% better.
 
Lets be fair this is probably the ONE game that I might have been tempted to upgrade to VISTA for ;)

Unless I see some real evidence of awesome effects that really are Vista only I am more than happy for better performance and "Vista only effects" on XP :D

You can't run Very high in DX9, the hack gets You to High !

No one is getting high fps.....the only people likely to are with SLI or Crossfire and that's not working
