Official Crysis Demo thread

I do know what you means about the AI, it is pretty poor, put a silencer on and take cover and you can shoot them for ages and they cant work out where your shooting, i had one enermy sprint past me and run the entire length of the beach from one end (near the laptop) to the jammer, there are problems with the AI in this game but for me its not a complete deal breaker.

I found the environment immersive and the gameplay hugely enjoyable, but if you werent getting headshots you did notice the flaws in the AI.

I find it has its good points as well, I once took a pop at a guy and quickly cloaked afterwards and he was taking random shots at a bush far away from me where he though the shot had came from.
Also making them jump by running at them with Maxium Speed makes me chuckle every time, their reaction is great :D

any reason why there are no decent wide screen res are showing up in the display options?
ideally would like to play @ 1680x1050

vista 32 bit , DX10 , new nvidia beta drivers.

32bit will do fine....basically it changes high to very high.
so put your graphics settings on high and your ready to go....you can still lower some if you like.
i have all mine on hig and shadows on medium.

is there no point me running this patch seems as i run in all medium, shadows low and physics high? (1280x768 res)

Dell 30" 3007WFPHC

wonder if there is a way of forcing the res

C:\Documents and Settings\*your log on name*\My Documents\My Games\Crysis_SP_DEMO
there is a file game.cfg in there ...open it with wordpad

change these lines to read
r_Height = 1050
r_Width = 1680

btw nice monitor

hi

must admit i was going to get this but it looks like farcry which was ok?

i might try cod 4 instead as that looks good

It is the successor to Farcry :D If you like Farcry you will like this game. It's as simple as that. Crysis is definitely far more tactical and stealth-oriented though.

Looks like this Crysis demo uses 4 cores

V-High graphics CPU test

Low graphics CPU test

The CPU load is higher in Low quality, indicating on V-High quality the CPU is waiting for the graphics card. Is this a bug/bad programming, or are todays graphics cards too slow?

I also installed it in XP and even though the framerate is about the same it felt much smoother, I also used the edited CVAR's and now it looks really good and still plays quite good.

Even though some sites said the difference is minimal between Vista and XP, for me it was a world of difference as it is ~30 to 40fps with a 8800GTS@650/2000 running at 1280*1024 noAA/8xAF everything high (Very high due to CVAR's), only ones I have on medium are shaders and post processing.
