Official Crysis Demo thread

I've just finished the demo. Just WOW in every respect, bring on 14th November! Gameplay was great in my opinion, graphics stunning, even the sound was immersive.

I played it on:

Vista x64
Quad Core @ 3.5
4GB Ram
8800 GTS 320

I had the graphics set to high, but the resolution was low at 1280x800 (16:10). Looked a bit blocky at that res on the 24" dell. I will see what nvidia and ati have to offer in November, as I fancy a gfx card upgrade anyway, but I will need one with any hope of some 1920 x 1200 action!

What is the point of leaving something out that makes the game more special?

OMFG, you're such a noob. People are saying it, but it's just not sinking in. READ MY LIPS:

In a year's time the game will still look amazing and will be playable on current hardware. This adds longevity to the game, just like Far Cry. Do you think the developers will deliverately limit the game's potential so that they don't offend noobs like yourself? Think carefully about this point before you reply with your crying "omfg my GTX won't play it max" attitude. ;)

Stop insulting others cause your one of the ones who likes being BS'd to as the Crysis DEV said it would run on a 8600GTS at High settings and to play higher you need a faster card (now you need to work out whats higher than High and whats a faster card).

I think and hope the Demo is buggy and can be fixed by Final plus better Driver.

Ohh and Crytek's CEO Cevat Yeril did add the game has code in it that can be brought out in years to come with patches so the game is made to run NOW on Current tech so thats also BS its simply running slow for 99.9% or dare I say 100% of users with very high end rigs.

ok wheres that?

ive completed the demo and at the end a giant thing rips through the ship and game ends

If you think one is bad look at the buggers that i encountered :p

Played through the demo this afternoon, really liked it. Looked good to me on my pc, although obviously not as good as some of the screenshots flying around.

Can any provide instruction on getting a scope on the guns?

1 core doing most of the work and I would expect it to take it to 100%, its said to be more so like above on Quads, I aint checked on my Dual yet.

If the game really is more CPU dependant as Crytek's CEO Cevat Yeril, then thats why FPS are bad, they need get it to rape all 2 or 4 Cores to near/100% like games normally do for Single/Dual cores.

I have a question for those who have experimented with the settings. Which would look better: putting a couple of things on medium/high with the majority on low, or changing to a higher res and leaving everything on low?

That was my understanding,

Infact someone posted that in this thread so correct me if i am wrong .

Also does anyone know how to enable AF in this game?

sid

yeah look on EA's forums, you rename the crysis.exe to bioshock.exe and override it in the nvidia control panel/manage 3d settings/program settings tab. not tried it myself, i just saw it posted on said forums.

just messed around with SLI settings and get no performance increase either with the game or editor with any of the SLI modes vs just using the single GPU. Hopefully this and the lack of quad core optimisation will be sorted in the full game, hell of a waste of my second 8800gtx otherwise!

Depends what you prefer.

I hate my screen being anything but native res. I always game at 1680x1050 now, and thats my first change.

I will then go to the graphics settings and modify those to let me play it well. So i play with everything on high except shaders which kills systems.

I tried 800x600 everything high and i got about 15fps. Effects were nice but it looks cack.

1280x768 all medium, shadows low and physics high gets me around 30fps most of the time and looks great. Sure the shadows arnt as nice as medium or high but shadows kills speed. (and id rather play it than look at shadows) on-

X2 3800+ @ 2.8ghz
X1800XT
2gb Gskill

When you think about the actual content of this game theres not really much of massive importance for a CPU to handle, its all GPU & GPU mem at work on Crysis. So even if they use all 4 cores of a quad i can't see it being the answer to anyones FPS trouble. for instance, look at cpu performace in 3d mark with anything that should be handled by a dedicated GPU? 1-2 FPS?

Fair enough i'd like to see my C2D running both cores but if the engine only uses one core and thats more than sufficent then why bother? The C2D and quad cores are really extremely powerful and can handle the engine quite easily, but unfortunately it aint gonna help render the GFX frames

Would not some of the physics be offloaded to other cores ?, Screenie is of a static picture.....does not really show anything !
It's been banded around for too long that Crysis would utillise 4 core CPU's for it to be untrue.
