** Official Days Gone Thread **

Mine personally atm is very good. Graphics are spot on, combat is smooth and the setting is fantastic imo. I have been reading it can be repetitive but I am only roughly 3 hours in but throughly enjoying it at the moment.

Thanks. It certainly looks great; shame its got poorly reviewed then to some extent as may stop people experiencing it.

Just watched the DF John Linneman analysis and listening to him you would think the game would be at least an 8/10.

Mines arrived, just downloading the rather large patch. Not too fussed on the low reviews, it is what it is, happy to give it a fair go.

Have a feeling this is going to be a much better game than some of the review scores it’s getting after watching the DF vids.

The issue is when people interpret anything less than an 8 as being an outright bad game. It doesn't seem to have been poorly reviewed to me, most of the reviews I've skimmed over or watched this afternoon were all broadly critical of many of the same things. It's pretty clear there are some flaws with it, some of which are technical and would ideally be fixed with patches. Other aspects are going to be more permanent however.

Some aspects of the gameplay look interesting enough that I'll probably give it a go in 6-12 months, but there was never anything shown that compelled me to even contemplate buying it on release.

Reviews are just a person's opinion at the end of the day. Look at the information available and make a decision based on what you like about what you see. For me the negatives from the reviews were criticisms I had before hand and of many other open world games so it told me it's not one I'll pick up. It doesn't mean it's bad. Just that it's not for me. Gone of the open world formula of late

Bit off topic, but I’ve been playing farcry5 for the past couple of hours, and I’m already bored to death. I think open world games have run their course for me. :-/ think I’ll give this one a miss too.

I honestly think, the Witcher 3 burnt me out on open world games... fantastic game and probably my favourite game I’ve played, don’t get me wrong.

I'm avoiding open world games like a plague now. Also burnt out on them, have RDR2 which is more than enough for me and I don't think this type of games can get any better than that.

Much prefer shorter linear or semi-linear games with smaller worlds with good settings and gameplay mechanics of which there have been three outstanding examples this year and another is coming to PC soon so I'll focus on that.

Days Gone looked really interesting but I'm going to give it a pass, don't have time for it and it doesn't seem to be that great.

Agreed @Amatsubu , RDR2 really burnt me out on open worlds. And I barely even scratched it..! at one point I was like “when the actual **** is this story gonna wrap up and end !?”

Then dutch would pipe up AGAIN with “just one last score” *GROAN* yeah right. :p

I think the best open world games are the ones that avoid the generic copy, paste side quests and collectables. Imo Ubisoft have been pretty guilty over the years of some quite lazy open world game design. Their games often have massive maps that end up feeling a bit lifeless and tedious because beyond the story and the key side missions it's all very repetitive. I think the better open world games are the ones that maybe have a bit less content but more effort has been put into what is there.

Farcry 5 was really boring though. Days Gone is my type of game, probably about 5 hours in now and still enjoying it.

Maybe I put it wrongly, I love RDR2, it's my favourite open world game in years and I can't get enough of the atmosphere, graphics and details, I soak up every dialogue and interaction etc. But one game of that type is enough, especially if others can't really surpass it by the looks of it. They take too much time so unless they're absolutely stellar, I simply don't bother anymore.

Oh I agree. It’s an amazing open world. (One of the best to date!) unfortunately the story is so dragged out, I really didn’t feel like exploring the rest of it after finishing the story :(

Wish I had known this before purchasing it. Oh well. You live and learn. Thing is, I really enjoyed fc4!

Thought it was just me and I used to buy every FC game day one. Played 5 for a couple of hours and I was just so bored of it all. Need to move on from this formula now.

I didn't even get FC5 because FC4 bored me to death after a while (was fun for couple of hours), the formula is tired as hell now but they keep milking it.

I’m a huge fan of atmospheric gloomy post apocalyptic open world and I’m Bloody loving this game ..stupid negative reviews seem to related more to bugs and glitches in the game ..judge for yourself and don’t let the reviews sway you

Looking at the reviews it looks like Sony's first bad exclusive all the fanboys though downvoting videos on Youtube that say that the game is bad funny.

Was looking forward to this but on the fence stil. Was going to be a day one pickup too. Glad i waited even if the reviews are based on bugs etc. Keep it on the back burner till it drops in price i guess. As many have said RDR2 killed me in terms of open world. Give me some but not to RDR2 extent :D

Might eventually dust off the PS4 in a month or so when this is on sale.
