*** Official DCS World Thread ***

Waiting for DCS Apache Gunship so i can relive my GUNG-HO days from the c64 and Atari ST. Would like to see DCS F18 also.

You will be waiting a fairly long time for the Apache to appear on DCS world mate.

Saying that, it is being simulated just now..

Nice i see that it supports Dynamic campaigns, a feature that is unheard of today in flight sims which was Pioneered by the Legendary Microprose.
Ill be keeping my eye on this one.

What is the next DCS?

Just noticed that DCS World and most modules are now on steam.

The Steam version of DCS World is unique in that all DLC purchases through it will direct users to the Steam store. As such, the updates for Steam products works a bit different. We have set up 'semi-automatic' updating for the Steam version - the updates themselves will be delivered by the Steam.

We do not believe it is possible to move DCS products purchased outside of Steam into Steam.

Why do you bother? Honestly? It seems you thrive in jumping on any little mistake they make - I mean a typo - really?

This thread could be so much better, without your relentless negativity. I will admit you've single handedly killed my want to keep OCUK updated on the latest developments (lots of which are missed by this thread, an example being the progress on the Mig -21, or even the best one yet the Huey) I did try in the other DCS thread, but now I leave it you. Have at it.

You could just hang out with the rest of the ED Fanbois on Eagle Dynamics forums instead then? ,
just keep gushing adulation and praise at them no matter what they do.

@Vtec9k, indeed it could have been a valve intern(more likely tho it was a copy paste job from info sent by ED) ,
but you think someone from inside ED would have proof read it before or even after the page went live ?

Nate is nothing like some of the OTT minions on the ED forums. He contributes very positively to these forums from what I see.

It does seem petty to gush over a one letter typo :(

I have beef with ED over some of their business decisions but even I would be hard pressed to string them up over that typo.

Nate has been nothing other than helpful and informative since I started following this thread. I understand he has some relationship with ED but surely that is a positive in that he gives accurate information even if you dont like that information.

I think it would be shame to stop giving the info because one poster has an axe to grind. Surely life would be a lot more pleasant if you did not follow this thread or use the DCS software? Stick to companies that you support and show that support with your cash rather then retreading old ground.

If ED are such a poor company they will soon go bust inregardless of whether Nate shows vlind allegiance or whether lurkio has super critical comments?!

Haha one of the reasons why i do not post here hardly, even though i have a lot of knowledge i do not post it as its never appreciated on ocuk and somebody with hardly any experience always knows better on ocuk. I know what you mean Nate, there are plenty of other forums to post on anyhow.;)

tbh I am a little miffed we can't port the keys over to steam, especially when it worked the other way around. As I said before the sale when it was first hinted (but no one had any real info) I would have preferred a steam copy, but I suppose ill have to buy it all over again...

We think we have a solution but no ETA yet.

Looks like ED have finally pulled their finger out their *** and read up on what Steam is actually capable of :)

We all knew it could be done if they wanted, they just did not know the power of Steam.

I will buy from them if they offer cross activation.

Update News about the MIG-21

Hello everyone.

We know you have been waited for this newsflash last week, and we apologize not having enough time to create one. This one comes few days earlier this week and I hope other team members will post their individual news in this or separated threads during this week.

The biggest news is not so good for our team but it won't affect our progress: in a big thunderstorm that happened few days ago in Hungary, beczl's PC was badly damaged including the HDD. All important files and related work was backed up daily, so no concerns about data loss. However, recovering the workstation with all the software tools and data will require substantial financial and time resources. All team members have their own copies of most of the files + back up copies, so no reason to worry about the continuation of the project. We wish you quick recovery beczl.

Concerning the external 3D model, as you probably know, Rudel finished it and textures migration is in progress. Model is beautiful, clean, optimized and will look just great with new textures. Lot of work there, but the hardest part is done.

RAZBAM-Cobra is finishing the new magnificent cockpit this week, and we can't wait to see screens of all the panels with masterpiece details in Beta. Bind it with Rudel's model, and you'll have a plane to stare at for hours.

AFM (advanced flight model) is approaching Beta and will be declared Beta hopefully this week. Aircraft performances are close within the flight domain, and some fine tuning left to be done. Currently, I'm working on new breaking/steering (taxi) model which is implemented in AFM due to unsatisfactory results we had with previous one.

Roland is working on weapon system (and related subsystems) migration from LUA and improved implementation. Along with AFM, this is the most important part of model simulation. It will require some time, but once I free myself from AFM, I'll help Roland to speed up his work.

In last 7 days we fixed number of bugs and code-dependent visual effects, and apart from above mentioned WIP, we need to implement DCS radio communication model which is required in order to support correct comm with AI layer and other players in multiplayer.

Sounds (mentioned in WN No.4) are still waiting for the fix. Since this is not high priority issue, it will be done once we finish Beta so we can fix this in parallel with other testing and minor fixing.

I hope this will compensate for the lack of info last week.

Thank you for your support, we won't let you down.
