Do you sit upright using an office chair or at an angle in something more suitable?

It feels strange to sit upright and with the feet on the pedals so I would be tempted to put a wedge undearneath them to change the angle.

I also cheap doorstops that I will try and put on the wheels on my chair to make things more comfortable.

Upright in a very comfy office chair

Both sets of pedals I own (ch pro) (saitek combat) are angled themselves

The oculus is crazy with this, mad. The only problem is that I've got giant head syndrome where your sitting with you face inn the front panel. Tried sorting back but not there yet. Got to figure out the fov maybe. Crazy mad fun though.

Lean into the hud, press 5 and sit back again, sorts it everytime for me

More news ....

Eagle Dynamics is pleased to announce the release of our Apple iPad mobile application for DCS World.
The DCS World Mobile App will initially provide users free black and white flight manuals for DCS World aircraft, and color manuals for a minimal fee.
The A-10C Warthog and UH-1H Huey are available now, and the P-51D Mustang and Ka-50 Black Shark will be coming soon.
In addition to viewing the flight manuals with the ability to navigate by chapters with thumbnails for each chapter and page book marks, the app also allows users to:
-View DCS World news.
-Remembers user credentials and provides a feedback form along with the FAQ.
-Registered users can download purchased manuals to any Apple iPad without restrictions, simply by logging in.
-All purchases of flight manuals can be restored if needed.
In the future, we will also be adding additional features like:
-Panoramic view of cockpits.
-Exclusive screen shots of upcoming products.
-DCS World movies.
-High definition photos.
-iPhone support.

Or you could just copy on the colour manual you have onto your ipad or android tablet, kinda pointless ?

Indeed, and "for a minimal fee" you could even buy an app like Goodreader that allows you to have multiple manuals (pdf files) open at once and even make annotations on them.

I have to say that this is the first thing ED have done where I can genuinely see no reason for. Even the WWII stuff, while I have less than zero interest there are plenty who do, but this is entirely pointless as anyone who has a tablet can already do what this app does (and more) without it.

Between things like this, and the concious dumbing down of DCS aircraft and other sim elements there are a fair few alarm bells ringing in my head when it comes to ED these days.

How dare they try to make money!

Nate

Nothing wrong with that, but it should be done by producing products and/or services that have a useful purpose. I just don't see how this is actually going to generate any meaningful amount of income. Not one person I've spoken too who owns an iPad or other tablet can see the point of this, myself included.

Right then, The Huey is 65% off on Steam, £10.49

Having not yet dipped into the DCS world, the Huey tempts me as a starter (I've read Chickenhawk too many times!)

My question is, are there lots of missions that you can then fly once you've got the hang of things?

Thanks.

Yep there are plenty :-)

Hope you have a joystick and pedals mate. the pedals are a must for the Huey really.. You can use a twist stick, but flying is so much more natural using pedals.

That's a good point that I'd not thought of, I've only got my trusty old MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. Might give it a whirl anyway, the Huey looks wonderful. Presumably it comes recommended?

My HOTAS is arriving tomorrow. Only Pedals I have are my G27 ones.

Lurkio, I meant in general. The game as a whole.

There are over a dozen different aircraft in the game , some are easier than others some are harder depending on your skill and how quickly you learn stuff

FFB2 is the best stick for use with the choppers (its FFB implementation is the yardstick in DCS) The Huey is relatively simple, but will take you quite some time to be able to fly comfortably, or even just fly at all :) But once you get how to fly it, it is by far the most rewarding flight model in DCS, or dare I say, any sim yet made. Note you WILL require pedals for the Huey and other choppers.
