*** Official DCS World Thread ***

VEAO devs are still pretty active on ED forums:

The EFM is still being developed. We have a base EFM and I posted a video recently of the ground handling demonstration.

Once some more tweaks have been made we will pass it to three real life Hawk pilots who will sign off the flight model. It then goes to ED for evaluation.

Although there are many concurrent projects running, we have over 35 people on the team now working on different aircraft so Hawk is not on the backburner or been forgotten. Work is ongoing on it. Bugs are being fixed waiting for the next patch release.

I do post updates on our Facebook page and in the Eye Candy or development threads so maybe you missed what I've typed above.

Hawk will never be certified AFM as this is ED's term for their own flight models. Hawk will be EFM (External FM, I.e. 3rd Party Developer).

Our EFM currently has an alpha status, that being worked on and tested by our internal team. It will then go to our internal testing team in beta stage and then on to public beta.

Like I said, with three Hawk pilot sign off's on the flight model, by the time it gets to you it will fly like a real Hawk, within DCS of course

Thanks,
Chris.

Also don't they have to wait for ED to release a DCS patch for their fixes to be included? I'm getting the feeling there wont be any more DCS patches until either someone finishes another module or they release 2.0 (yeah, i know...)

Just had a lovely email from DCS:

DCS: NEVADA Test and Training Range Map will sell for $49.99 at November 2015. Pre Purchase now for $39.99 and save 20%!

I'm guessing that everyone who bought A10C in alpha will not infact be getting this map then lol, I tried to find where they said we would but as that was promised over 5 years ago I can no longer find it.

So, whos desperate for a $50 map then??

Im kind of torn about this map, whilst I automatically purchase all things DCS, Nevada test range - short of a red dawn style invasion - sounds a tad boring and flat to me. Might wait for the inevitable sale, or more likely some kind of top gun blue team/red team action when the F14 comes out.

It must have been a generic marketing email to everybody on their mailing list, people who bought A10C alpha will be gettign Nevada for free- it was confirmed multiple times by multiple devs, so do not worry ;)

I'm not one of them and will have to pay though - which is cool with me as it looks sunning and should make DCS a brand new game. Just freeflight with Huey around Vegas and airbases would be worth the price of admission imho.

PS I do not purchase all things DCS though, I love the semi-sim FC3, and the full sim A10C, Ka50 and Huey (plus I got the Dora for 1$ kickstarter backing), not really intereted in the other stuff until the F/A-18 comes along. Maps though - I cant wait.

Im more interested in what 1.5 is going to bring to VR and as I have not really learnt the planes yet im quite happy with the caucuses.

Caucases will only get the updated lighting -which is great as it does seem to transform the place, but Nevada will be truly next gen with high poly buildings, traffic, car parks, traffic signs and lights, new texture engine etc etc

Next time DCS have modules on sale, please remind us. Was doing some research on helicopter sim options and the Huey looks absolutely bang on for what I'd like to try.

Guess that reading Chickenhawk wasn't a great idea, despite it being a brilliant book.

The huey is the best module out there. Some would say the A10C, and I can see why, but for sheer fun the huey wins all day long.

Black Shark2 is the second best to the A10C imho, Huey is great fun to fly, but its too slow and too lightly armed for anything apart from sightseeing. Ka50 (BS2) is dead easy to fly - just like the Huey, but is also meant for one pilot operation and above all its a hugely potent attack chopper.
