*** Official DCS World Thread ***

As the saying goes don't count your chickens before they are hatched

What follows is a preliminary changelog of DCS World 1.5. Because 1.5 is being built from a new branch of our code, we cannot account for changes made in earlier branches. As such, we had to create much of this changelog based on memory and older bug tracking reports.

^ This is find a little disconcerting , you really should have accurate logs to versions being checked into your repo, so it should be easy to pull out the relevant info

Programmers' logs and customers' logs are different things, so I'm sure their logs are fine where it counts - programming. As a customer, I know that the new engine will bring new lighting and new render, and the rest do not really bother me/I will discover myself :)

Nope there should only be one log , the one that counts which is of the commit comments when the code is checked in to their source control system

You then use them to create "reduced" information logs or top level stuff that you may give to customers or clients ( as in what we might see)

OK, I'll take your word ;) I think this case is special though as they pull code from old and new engines (1.3 and 2.0) to fuse into this 1.5, so ...

So this is it... the final day that ED can release DCS 1.5 and hit their first, self created, deadline... EVER.

Probably and overreaction, but it's definitely how my brain recalls the situation :)

Anyone think they'll actually manage it?

EDIT: Somone on reddit summed up the upload of the open beta to the servers perfectly :)

Well Folks,
Here we are on this momentus day that DCS 1.5 will be released upon us all

Are you guys all stoked and ready ?

trolololol

Being that it is September 30th today, I wanted to give you a little update. The team spent all day today trying to assemble and release the Open Beta, but despite our best efforts, we had some assembly failures. Just as soon as we can resolve these errors, we will release the Open Beta.

There has been a nice announcement.

Unfortunately, we're unable to release version 1.5 to the public today, but a release will be coming in the following weeks.

In the meantime, we've released 4 other DLCs for pre-order if you will kindly follow the link provided and spend your hard earned monies. These are expected to be delivered early 2020.

Such Shock (AGAIN)

Wow

These guys just don't have a clue at all

I'm honestly surprised they even bothered pinning it down to a year, let a lone a bloody day!

Even finished night shift expecting them to have pushed it out as they were touting it was going on the servers a while ago BUT:

Well, clearly not enough you sent happy thoughts and I’m afraid the updater build failed (jk). So, we need to find the problem, fix it and try again. This may take more than just a few hours, so those of you staying up may want to get some shut eye.

It is released, just in a parallel universe.

Judging by the fact they don't know which features are in which builds... I would strongly hint that there is little or no automated testing internally, which is a big bottleneck in small teams.
