*** Official DCS World Thread ***

I got it working,

For some reason if I run the desktop shortcut it doesn't work at all, if I run "DCS.exe" from inside the folder, it works a treat,

It's REALLY good lol, just did a quick shadowplay of my first take off in 2.0, flew down the strip and buzzed the tower :D

It looks great - way better than the crimea map,

For some reason the recording via shadowplay is really choppy, but it's pretty smooth in game

EDIT

Just flew through the hoover dam :D

One thing that's immediately noticeable, due to the much higher number of assets, (cars, buildings, trees, etc) it really gives a much stronger impression of speed,

the lighting is also wonderful,

Something not right there - My system isn't much more than yours and I get a lot better than 10fps. What settings are you using?

Nate
The settings are "High" pretty much everything with "DOF" switched off. No "Ultras", but I didnt want to see the long awaited NTTR looking worse than "high"... :)

I've tried only briefly yesterday with an F15 starting from a base -cant remember the name- around 100km away from Vegas and then flying towards Vegas. It took a long time to load (few minutes?) and still lagged when I turned my head in cockipt for another 10seconds or so, then it was ok - runnining at 40fps on takeoff, 60 fps during low level flight over desert. BUT, it was 60fps with frequent freezes as ground textures were slow catching up. Vegas was a slideshow on this low level flight, unplayable.

It could be that my HDD with dcs is full to the brim, or maybe its the lacking RAM/VRAM.

IS your 2500K overclocked ?

No, the crappy motherboard keeps resetting the overclocking settings on cold boots every few days and I'm too lazy to turn them back on. :o

I wonder, is the Hard Disk going nuts while it's lagging?

Is anyone able to generate missions or anything yet? none of that is working for me - it just doesn't do anything,

AFAIK it isn't functional in 2.0 at the moment. The Terrain still has to be assigned the Nodes that are used by the Generator.

EDIT:- I take that back it does work..... for Air to Air only though.

Go the Full Mission generator - reselect the Nevada Terrain, then click on your desired Node and then hit Generate.

Yep, HDD is being absolutely hammered, even windows takes a couple of minutes to recover after exiting dcs. I've freed up 30gb on the hard drive for file swapping now and Nevada performance has improved too, still very laggy 25-10fps over vegas when flying close to the ground supersonic :D
