*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Its not just you, i was very thorough and I didnt max the pistol damage and ROF. I actually gave up on it as it could still perform OHKOs on enemies and instead focused on the heavy rifle which is much more useful for bosses. I could have maxed it if i didnt focus on the rifle I suppose(which i didnt max either). I still picked up loads of reload mods, some of which i didnt use.

I thought the plasma rifle was pretty amusing, you get it right near the end and you can put plenty of upgrades on it but by that point you dont have anything to upgrade it with and may as well stick with the heavy rifle.

Have to agree with what you said about the rocket launcher, it doesnt even destroy the big mechs with one shot which means emp grenades will always be better as they require minimal inventory space by comparison

I also agree with what was mentioned earlier about the battery charging, I have no idea why they decided it should only charge the first point as it makes putting extra praxis points in cells pointless. I still put points into it near the end anyway as I had praxis coming out of my ears :p

Does anyone know many bonus points do you get for ghosting an area? I've never even come close to managing it as its too much hassle and i dont bother with putting points into stealth earlier on

I need 3 more upgrades to max out my pistol. 1 Damage 2... Reload? I've had several RoF upgrades and I might've not bothered to buy a damage upgrade near the start but still, that is a weapon I've had since the beginning. There are just too few upgrades.

Yeah I've got 4 cells atm which is pretty useless. The only point in getting 4 cells would be to make use of the Jars (I've got 3 of them on me... I have no idea why), 5 is completely useless. The recharge boost is excellent and I only use the bars in situations where I need to KO 2 seperate targets quickly or extreme situations (like where I dropped out of a Vent while cloaked, took down 2 targets with a Reflex Booster, then had to quickly go and Stun Gun the camera while I moved the bodies).

Ghost gives you 500xp, Smooth Operator gives you 250xp. I think those values are pretty consistent.

Since the availability of energy bars makes the lack of recharging batteries pretty much a non issue, I think it's most likely they did it as a way of further restricting inventory space. They could have easily ditched the energy bars and had full battery recharge for the same effect, but then it's quite obvious inventory is intentionally limited.

One thing I would change is the fully upgraded inventory should just have been standard, because even then space quickly becomes valuable and you're forced to make choices on which play style you want to lean towards. I think I'd have been annoyed at having to drop things I wanted to keep every 5 minutes if I'd not put praxis points into inventory, as it was the balance was decent enough. I still dropped plenty I'd have liked to have kept, but then I'm sure the idea is very much if you want to see that stuff, play it again :p.

Honestly, 75% of my inventory is surplus junk. The bars should be there for situations where you needed more energy because you ran out rather than to actually fuel it in the first place. This isn't Deus Ex where Bioenergy doesn't recharge (but there are bots and cells handy) and augmentations actually use quite a small amount of energy by comparison. I've got probably 2 or 3 entire columns worth of energy items that I don't even use, another few of ammo for guns I don't even have and another few for grenades and mines.
For Combat orientated playthroughs with lots of guns then inventory upgrades are pretty vital and most of what you need doesn't actually require energy (recoil reduction, aim stabiliser, dermal armour). What happened to Ballistic Protection and Aggressive Defence System which took energy to use?

The only time you need to use bars are when you're trying to perform multiple takedowns or a takedown while using Cloak or Run Silent.

Because of pre-order bonus I got sniper riffle and shotgun...when I play these sort of games I like to use all guns and keep all weapons all the way through but my inventory is full and I have machine gun, stun gun, pistol, sniper, shotgun, and then ammo and explosives, and I dont really want to drop anything...why did they make inventory so small pfff!!!

Any solutions to my problem?

Also a second question is, with the shotgun is says hold E and then theres a flashing icon in bottom right, what does that do, it has a pistol on the icon when I have the shotgun out, can someone please explain?

And which weapon can you use tranquillizer darts with?

For holding E, that enables burst fire for Shotgun (fires two shots in one).

As for inventory space, I had that problem aswell - only solution is to trim down on what weapons you enjoy/need the most, sell the rest.

Personally I stuck with fully upgraded Combat rifle, Sniper rifle and Shotgun + grenades - ditched the Stun gun (however fun it was, I didn't really need it when I can use takedown just as easily). Later on with full inventory upgrade I picked up the Heavy rifle which is fun, but feels like its damage isn't enough so not sure if that was worth it.

As for Tranquilizer darts, that's for use with the Tranquilizer rifle :p

**possible mild spoiler**
Oh and if you're the explory type, you'll find an abundance of all weapon types as you go through the game so don't worry about ditching a weapon to try another out (****** Rocket launcher took up so much room!).

^^ I had a funny one on a boss fight (one of the harder ones) I'd hacked a turret a few rooms back so was dragging it along with me - came out the elevator carrying it without realising it was a boss fight and after the cutscene the turret and the boss went at it at each other and I just sat in a corner out the way til the turret killed the boss lol.

Haha epic :D

On one boss, I just spammed Typhoon. Easy as pie :D

The funniest one I had was killing barret (1st boss?) practically ran out of ammo for ranged weapons before I got to him had ****loads of Stun ammo but thought better than to use that as he'd probably muller me if I tried... until I ran completely out of ammo so I thought **** this I'll just have to give the stun gun a go hit him with it and he stopped dead in his tracks kept hitting him with said "supposedly useless" stun gun until he was dead and thought "If only I'd've done this originally maybe I'd have some ammo left for the next mission" :o:rolleyes:

Pretty inspiring stuff.

Indeed and absolutely fascinating as well. The men and women making and using these prosthetics now are, as said in the video, pioneers of our future as a species. It's a shame though that so much of the advancement in the field has been as a result of war. From the subjects requiring prosthetics, to the technology that goes into the manufacturing of the prosthetics.

War is the pioneer for practically everything in all of human history. Even if there aren't any wars actually going on, you just substitute 'war' for 'defence' and the cycle continues.

How long does it take for batteries to recharge, or dont they? I'm not that far in, but I've got cloak, it last like 5 seconds and now I have one green battery and 2 red and the 2 red dont seem to be coming back? Do I need to buy something for them to recharge or do they just take a long time?

Thanks.
