*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

Finished. Did a stealth, non-lethal playthrough. I swear I never bloody killed anyone, nor set off any damn alarms either, but I didn't get either the pacifist or foxiest achievements. Guess this means someone freakishly died from my stun-gun, tranq rifle or take-downs. Perhaps I head-shotted someone with the tranq rifle or something. Possibly an alarm in the prologue or first chapter, I dunno.

Quite disappointing, but I ain't playing through again just for an achievement...

Spoiler

You may have accidentally killed someone. For example when you save the transport pilot at some point a robot drops. I blew up this robot but enemies I had tranqued close to it died as a result... Had to do it a few times to position the exploding robot away from anyone ><

Yeah, I'm assuming I did just that.

Definitely not at that point, though, as I did notice the first time through that I'd killed a merc by robo-blast, and reloaded until they were all marked "zzz".

I guess it was early game before I was really paying attention to whether anyone had met with an accident after being stun-gunned, or making sure my tranq rifle didn't actually kill anyone.

Oh well, ho hum, etc...

I only felt pangs of boredom when playing 10 hour stints. Just play it slowly like max 5 hours a day and take the odd day off from playing. Far better experience imo.

I think if you want to do a Pacifist/Foxiest playthrough your best bet is to try for zero encounters. You shouldn't kill or KO anyone and you at least get the joy of having to be completely invisible when progressing through areas. Maybe use Typhoon just to avoid struggling with bosses as you might lose out on quite a few praxis points and weapon upgrades.

Would be nice if the game gave you stats at the end. People killed by x, people incapacitated by y, time taken etc.

Yes! I wanted that. And I want to know exactly WHERE I supposedly killed someone with my non-lethal weapons! And which damn alarm I allegedly set off!

Yeah, pretty much.

  • Pre-load game.
  • Exit Steam.
  • Activate VPN.
  • Restart Steam.
  • Click Play.
  • Steam said it needed defragging so I let it do that.
  • Click configure DEHR rather than play DEHR.
  • The installation will then be completed and it will do the first time setup ********.
  • Once the settings menu appeared I pressed cancel.
  • Restarted Steam in offline mode.
  • Deactivated VPN.
  • Sorted the settings out.
  • Started the game.

While connected to the VPN open a browser and open a page, google for example, the page itself will not load but you will get a black screen with freevpn.co hyperlink on it, click the hyperlink and you will get a message on the browser window saying it's connected.

Then try to connect to Steam.

Anyone going to be doing this with Dead island tonight ??

You know what. I am bored of this game now. I haven't completed it yet either. Just can't be arsed to play it :(

This. Loved the first 2/3rds of the game but last third i forced my self to finish it. Just found my self getting bord with the stealth & gun fights because the A.I wasnt the slightest bit challenging.

I also found the multiple routes a little hollow. I actually found Crysis had move of a choice in game play than HR. In Crysis you could stealth around an entire base planting C4 then move away to a hill, let all hell break loose & pick them off with a sniper rifle. Was very satisfying when it worked out.

They've layed the foundations & hopefully will tweak the levels (hubs?) to have more of an impact (less offices, copy n paste). F.E.A.R had the same issue with endless offices for large parts of the game.

8/10. 33hours to complete.
