*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

It looks great to me though?

Its still 10x better than DA2 is.

My only concern about this game is the gameply, I am hoping it will be more like the first one and less like an FPS.

Yes. Awful. Truly terrible. They look 5-6 years old. The below images are HD btw, not that they look it. Pathetically low-res textures tbh.

deusex3f.jpg

looks the same quality as mgs2 on the ps2.

I'll wait until it's released before I either sing its praises or award it with a custard pie.

Exactly :)

Plus, if the story and gameplay are really good like deus ex 1, then it will make you forget about graphics looking like mgs2 on ps2. lol.

I played Deus Ex 1 about 6 months ago and after about 20-30 minutes I was so into the game, I forgot about the graphics and was really enjoying the game again. At firsts it's like, I wish they remade this game with today's graphics, as it so old. But after you just forget. Played Invisible War a few weeks ago and was happy with graphics, the only thing that annoyed me in that game was the loading. Even on SSD 20-30 seconds load from area to area.

You can call me a fanboy as much as you like, but I just don't see what you're whining about. A couple of ambiguous, low quality screenshots cause you to write the whole game off as looking crap, and I'm the elitist? The internet is a wonderful place.

Teh real hardcore elitists still play Deus Ex 1, Morrowind and Baldur's Gate :p

Graphics are meaningless, gameplay is everything.

I have not heard of any new news on a release date. I am guessing the game will be out in April sometime. If anyone hears anything, please post here.

Soon as it goes up for pre order on steam, I will get it. This and Mass Effect 3 are the only games this year I will be pre-ordering. Was going to with Crysis 2, but got a bit annoyed with the developers and EA. As time goes by I am starting to dislike EA. Shame they own bioware :(

That's the biggest croc of **** i've heard this year. It really does my head in when people say this because they are just talking out their arse and they know it.

Graphics is everything too. That's why so many want to upgrade their rigs to play BF3.

Oh really, in case you didnt know people have been saying that for many many years now.

If I'm talking out of my arse then why am I still playing Alpha Centauri, Age of Empires II and Baldurs Gate?

A game with awesome graphics with rubbish gameplay is still a rubbish game.

I really cant se much wrong with the graphics for Deus Ex 3, the only thing I'm bothered about is whether or not it will be like the first one for gameplay. I very strongly doubt it will be anything like Deus Ex 1 though, and if thats the case I wont be interested at all.

Graphics mean **** all unless the gameplay is good. So yes, Gameplay > Graphics. I can dislike a game because i don't like the graphics but i won't even consider it full stop if the gameplay is crap.

because the graphics were acceptable for their time and they've never been anything better - and you know this. If Dragon Age (baldurs gate successor) was made with BG graphics you wouldn't be saying, "well I'm still playing BG so as long as the gameplay is fine". People are complaining about DA2 graphics as it is. You talk so much poop on these forums.

Why do people look at the witcher 2 screenshots and proclaim they're looking forward to it even more?

Why do people watch BF3 videos and say it looks amazing and they're going to upgrade their rig?

Obviously graphics are part of the package and do matter as they add to the overall experience for any game. You're wrong, accept it.

Couldn't have put it better tbh. I would put gameplay over graphics, but there would be a fine line in between.

DA2s graphics did look oddly bad but then the game looked even worse. I've not seen a single person actually say 'I'm not getting it because the graphics look poor', no its because the gameplay is ****.

Because they assume BF3 will run poorly with there current rigs or because they want it to run at decent fps?

They can add to the overall experience all you like. Graphics don't make a bad game good, gameplay does. And in 2 or 3 years time the graphics will be irrelevant because they'll be extremely dated anyway and all you'll care about is the gameplay.

For simplicities sake, lets say there was a new version of Deus Ex with modern day graphics... exactly the same game bar the graphics are updated.

You would play the new version wouldn't you? (If your rig could run it). Graphics aren't meaningless at all. I would agree in saying that gameplay is more important, but not that graphics are entirely meaningless.

For me the point where graphics became believable enough for me to remain happy with was the Source engine. If a game has amazing gameplay and the level of graphical fidelity the Source engine has, then how "dated" the game may look wouldn't ever be a consideration.

But nobody is saying they wont get the game because the graphics are poor in this case either. Simply pointing out that they look poor.

I don't think people with 470s and 5850s need to worry about running it at a smooth frame rate when they say they're going to drop a second card in. I think they're more concerned with running it at a decent frame rate with everything maxed. So obviously don't want to settle for medium/high settings with less AA samples - obviously being able to run it on Very High with x8 matters to them.

Time and time again, people point out how well a game has aged aesthetically 3, 4, 5 years down the line. So I think this is a mute point.

I lieks VVVVVV, Worms Reloaded, and Magicka a lot and they came out within the last year.

As for DAO, I would have much preferred it if it was a 3D / HD version of Baldurs Gate :p

Graphics are nice, but hardly ever the deciding factor of whether or not I like the game.
