Eidos Montreal game director Jean-Francois Dugas admits to problems with the AI in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, in speaking with Play magazine about the action/RPG sequel that was released yesterday in North America. "I'd be lying if I said the AI meets all of our expectations but I think it's normal that every developer has something they'd like to do differently," he said. "That being said, when you look at the type of game we're making, where stealth and combat need to cohabit as naturally as possible, I think overall gamers will be satisfied with what we did. It's not perfect but it makes for interesting gameplay situations.
So, what he is really saying is, the AI isn't as perfect as we would like, because of the choices we had to make to make stealth and full assault work equally well in the game.
"Problems" would mean that the AI is buggy and broken. Which is isn't from what I've seen so far. The start of the comment is a little bit misleading.
