Doh, can't see the sticker now that i've installed the mobo in the case :p

Still, anyone still having problems with two sticks of memory after the updated bios? I'll have a look over at dfistreet, etc.

Cheers

lol i put my board in before checking as well mate, go grab a mirror ;)

Thanks for the info regarding the PCIe performance drop simon, i have checked it and it is about 150-200 points down in 3Dmark2001se , so your right.

I've had to resort to using my linux box to send messages to this forum....the network connectivity in both ports seems to connect but then go very slow....I mean really slow and then disconnect for no apparent reason. Anyone else having issues?

I need to download superpi, 3mark03 and 3dmark05 to do some benchmarking :)

I'm still getting no where fast with the new build. I've tried uping the Vdimm to 2.7 and 2.8 and it made no difference at all.

Anyone got any other ideas?

I'm constanting getting the message 'Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware cinfiguration...' and it just sits there doing nowt else.

What is the procedure once I've plugged it all together? Am I not doing the obvious or something?

I had the same problem and figured it out. I had my CD-Rom drives plugged into IDE 1 as my HDD's were both SATA and i figured it wouldn't matter they were on IDE1. Bios detected everything but kept hanging on inspecting hardware configuration so I moved my CD-ROM drives to IDE2 instead and it worked straight away. Dunno if it's the windos disk or the bios that expects HDD's on IDE1 but that was my problem.

The new Beta BIOS rocks :)
Best I could boot in to Windows before was 10 x 290

I have the same prob as you just sits there doing nothing. Iv got R 0.2

i was on the virge of anger just a minute ago, i was "exploring" the bios settings and when i exited it wouldnt find my 2 sata hdds anymore, whatever i did nothing would appear, luckily turning it off for 2mins (after trying everything else) sorted it *phew*

just putting mine all together at the moment, but probably won't boot it up this evening.

Just a quick question. How come most people were saying that the xp120 only fits if the pipes are facing the ram slots? I've managed to fit mine the other way, which has 2 benefits:

- much more space to fit the RAM
- much more space between my gfx card and the heatsink.

I've checked, and it appears the heatsink is covering the whole of the chip's heatspeader, just about. So should i be ok? And how come people were saying the xp120 only fits with the pipes toward the ram??

:)

you've read wrong mate ;) they where saying its better the other way around, an me being a numpty put it the silly way round thus blocking my attempts at dimm4 :D (all sorted now though)

Right, now it goes to the starting windows bit after inspecting hardware and then comes up with a blue screen error and hangs? Any one else had this? Think flashing it to the new bios will help? I have a version A.02.

Some of you chaps seem to be having problems installing windows on your sata drives with this board, I have been using sata drives myself on intel rigs for quite a while now and always encountered similar problems if any devices were on IDE 1 during the op system installation. Put your optical drives etc on channel 2 and save yourselves a load of hassle.

Nice informative thread though, one of these boards may be the board that persuades me to break my AMD duck, pity you can't fit 2 6800ultras or GT's though without having to dismantle them. :(
