Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

Hi guys can someone help me overclock my dfi i've posted a thread in the overclocking section thanks all. Oh and some issues of the DFI if you want to install the sound card thing in a Coolermaster Centurion 5 you need to cut a little slot in your back 120m fan otherwise it wont fit

hmm.. mine seems to have it

Any reason not to use the orange memory slots over the yellow slots?

Memory clocks better in the orange slots on my board.

9: Orange memory slots(2&4) are reported to offer better stablity.

Seems orange is better for most ppl.

You sure about the memtest errors in test 5?

I only get them when pushing too far, and the last 5% of test 5 has always been the most sensitive to memory faults on both my NF3 and NF4 boards.

Well I can pass memtest at 230 after 20 passes, will try for 250 today.

25.6k is abit low, dunno why. Might go up after a system reinstall and better drives then the 71.80s.

Seems to depend upon the version of memtest you run, so many ppl have various versions its better to just give a blanket statement then try to pick up.

If your memory is failing though, generaly it will be in Test 5, although at the same address and size is thought to be not memory, but could be mem controller/chipset/software.

I personaly use test 5 looped as its a very quick way to check.

Tried connecting to IDE2 instead of IDE1 and it does the same thing..........sitting there saying inspecting computers hardware config...........

Anymore ideas?

Andy.

Same here. Sometimes it goes to starting windows then stops and sometimes it gives a blue screen error after starting windows. Let me know if you get it sorted.

Is anyone using ballistix with this board? If I drop the ram divider to 166 I can get the CPU(A643200) to 2.45 and ram to 216. If I drop the multi to 9 I can get the ram to 260 and the CPU to 2.3. If I use the default multi of 10 and every thing else 1 to 1 this board just will not clock. Surly if the ram can to do 260 and the CPU can do 2.45 then surly they can do 2.45/245 simultaneously?

High hopefully going to finally get all my bit tommorrow :D

Now I am sure that i read somewhere that there was a problem with VGA arctic coolers
on DFI boards?

Just wondering becuase i am very tempted to put one on my OCUK x800xt to get better overclocks, but if there are issues with this then i wont buy it.

Btw i am also going to have a XP-120 heatsink.

I have one of my case fans running off Fan 5, no problems. Wanted it to be always on to drawn air out of the case.

As for the NCQ and SATA drives. Ports 1-4 use the Nvidia chipset which has SATAII and therefore includes NCQ support. Ports 5-8 on the SLI-DR don't support SATAII but do support RAID5 aswell as RAID 0 and 1.

cool the Nvidia chipset i am using.

so from the word go fan 5 was working all the time you are saying?

if so dose anyone know how to 1 can turn the fans on if they are off,i looked in the bois all i can see is cpu fan and fan2 and NB fan.

All five fan slots were working from the start.

CPU Fan working as expected....runs up slowly.
Chipset Fan working as expected...didn't start immediately but then buzzed into life after a min or two.
Fan 2 used initially as the case fan but then moved to Fan 4 and Fan 5 for testing purposes ;)

I don't remember changing anything in the bios
