Thanks Ricco- about to do it ;)

Maybe add this to your first post? I did post about the new BIOS yesterday, but not in this thread- probably a mistake

I'm having a few problems with chipset temperatures with the arctic cooler in place. I've cleaned the thermal pad off the chipset sink, applied AS5 and removed the big metal face plate that surrounds the top of the heatsink, but am still getting 43 degrees idle temps. Which is just when the fan starts to crank upto stupidly noisly levels.

What PWM and chipset temps are you guys getting?

Currently PWMIC is 34 and chipset is 40. But one of the fans on my radiator is blowing in the general direction of the mosfets (as luck would have it ;) )

My PWM is 59 degrees! Chipset is sat at 43 degrees.(

Ouch- the chipset looks OK but the PWM doesn't. Are you using the newest edition of Smart Guardian- I think its on the DFI site (as opposed to the one on the CD). Do the Al heatsinks on the mosfets feel that hot?
Or maybe you are doing some major o/c ;)

Updated Smart Gaurdian, temps are still crazy.

Will have a look at modding my Arctic Cooler some more, see if I can get the chipset sink some more airflow.

The PWM temps are nuts though, going to check how hot the mofsets are now.

Hi all

I have dl the new bios from the links and the link at the front of this thread but every time i try to install it says bios size does not match with mainboard bios am i doing somthing wrong ??

My X800XT card with an arctic cooler does not fit without fouling the chipset cooler. I had to cut one of the screw holders off and sand it down to get the arctic in without causing the chipset sink to be pressed down and not contact the chipset.

What chipset temps are people getting?

The protrusion behind the PCI connector is what hits the chipset fan.

The picture is actually mighty nimrods card he has for sale, I pinched the image from his thread in the MM :)

hi Minstadave
just a quick one what sort of extra overclock do get with that arctic cooler on your x800. :)
