In 2k I can get 9 x 324 (2.916 Ghz) and that's Prime (blend) stable for just over 3 hours!

Just seems REALLY weird to me.

Try OCCT , probably the most sensitive I have found.

Running stability test now.

EDIT - Also been through EVERY BIOS option to see if something was astray. Made no difference.

There must be something drastically different about XP which prevents me from running high HTT / CPU.

Safe mode = OK
Win 2k = OK
Win XP = no go?

This is infuriating to say the least!

I can have a 2.9 Ghz Win2k system, or a 2.4 Ghz WinXP system. :rolleyes:

Surely 2k isn't too hot as a gaming platform?

I think 2K is virtually the same as XP with a few updates like the new wireless stuff etc. Not too much of a downer.

Im at 300, 30 passes test 8 okay, but I get 330 odd errors in test 5!!!

Anyone know what settings I should change to stabilise test 5?

I thought you said that previously (in a different rig) that you already managed to find settings to get those sticks 300Mhz stable?

Anyway, you can tweak some of the RAM timings (the basic 4 and a few of the other advanced ones) whilst running Memtest. Press C and then 9, wait for the warning to disappear and then change the Trcd value (Ras to Cas) to 4. I know you don't want to but I bet the errors in test #5 go away.

Remember, changing the RAM timings in Memtest do not stick and so they are gone once you reboot. Just write down what you've changed and if it was successful then remember to go into the BIOS and make the changes permanent, if you want to keep them of course.

vDimm can't be the problem since you're already at 2.9v. My OCZ Rev.2 are doing 310Mhz are 2.8v and can do 305Mhz at 2.7v. However, both of these are with Trcd of 4. It seems that as some timings are relaxed, the less vDimm is required to keep the sticks stable since they are working slightly less harder - despite the increase in Mhz.

Yes, I had 295 stable test 8, for over 60 passes thats why Im abit miffed at this occurance!

Im trying to find the best Tref, whats the best Tref for your TCCD?

For tref I've always used 3072 (which equates to 200Mhz 3.9us if you also use the A64 Tweaker app in Windows).

Test 5 has always been avout Vdimm for me.

Okay got it down to 30 errors per pass using Tref of 1032, next best is 2336 which has 32 errors per pass.

1168 (166Mhz, 7.8 musec in A64 Tweaker) Thats for GSkill LE 4400 ICs 440 at 2.8volts with a Winnie 3200 SPAW at 300 x 9 on BIOS 414-3. For the FX 55 in my siggie Tref was 0516 with BIOS 310

Are you trying 2.5 3 3 x or 2.5 3 4 x?

2.5-3-3-7 now, as -7 gives more bandwidth in sandra.

Im going for my max 2.5-3-3-7 speed now.

@ 285 atm - This time its gonna be 20 passes test 5 + 8 thn 5 passes of the whole memtest!

I can get mine 2.5 3 4 7 up to 310 but 2.5 3 3 7 only to 280 ish. Here are my settings for 300 if it helps

If it fails test 5 whatever the voltage TRCD is probably too low

My TCCD seem to like that set at 5.

However, all Im looking for now is tightest timings at 306mhz cos this San Diego needs 1.5+V to get over 2.8ghz.

i found tref 4708 most stable for me at 2.5-3-3-10 297MHz and also 3V was more stable than 2.9V.
thats as high as mine go, have to drop to 2.5-4-3-10 to get to 313 stable.

edit: mine also likes Data drive at 5 and Data Strength at 2.
