****Official Doom 4 Thread****

Jumped a bit when I met my first Baron of Hell.
:D

They are bloomin' evil! No messing about, just come charging at you. Very satisfying when you take one down :D

The more I play the more I enjoy this game. It really is a modern day DOOM in every sense. id have most certainly delivered.

Enjoying it so far! Graphics and sound all good. Runs very nice on ultra with me 980ti And the speed is nice too compared to beta. Only 2 hours in and I am stuck am keep getting killed on "hurt me plenty"! :D But will battle on. It's the part where we have about 3 hell knights for the first time! Dam there hard! forgot how doom was :p.

Single player is well better than what the beta multiplayer was. Have not tried that in final version yet. Just blasting on with SP for now.

With crashes i have only had one so far... and that was out of blue crash to desktop, no errors, freeze or anything just quit to desktop. So will keep an eye on it.

If it's only 8 hours of play like what James J had, then should be ok money's worth for £24 for a what it is. Both Metro's games to me was about 8/9 hours. Might replay it for secrets and models for 100%!

Having a break then more whiskey, munchies and try and kill these bloody Hell Knights I think!

Caved in and bought it for £23.99

Only played half hour so far, seems decent. Runs OK on high settings at 1440p on my 780.

Can't believe how quickly it downloaded! 43gb in about half an hour!

i got it from cdkeys - they even have a discount code for 5% off doom666. came in about £22. Running like a dream on my 980ti averaging 140fps at 1080p with everything turned up. i really need to think about getting a new monitor...

I just got one after a hour of play, it was like a ninja and happens almost instantly

Backed down my gpu clock and seems to have stopped it, yeah it was instant like it was minimising a program.

Can anyone tell me wtf im meant to do from here,l I get that im meant to scale upwards but i seem to keep going in circles.

Just waiting for an You Tube upload to finish before I buy it.

I just don't want another.... 3 enemies in a room followed by an empty room followed by 3 enemies in a room followed by.... (FEAR, Quake... err everything... cause we want to keep the frame rate up and we need our monsters to look really nice). And I hope it's really hard, I'd quick like to get me a*** kicked quite a bit.. :)

Well am playing on the hardest setting you can pick from start and they is definitely more than 3 at once. I was I'm a room with about easy over 10 running about.

93% positive rating on Steam with 1200+ reviews.

I did what I always do, and looked at the negative reviews.

The theme across them seems to be:

+Pretty
+Runs well

-Nothing at all like old-school Doom
-Modern-day mechanics that are considered cheesy (regenerating health, ammo)

As someone who played Doom when it came out, but always liked Quake more, I'm not biased either way :p

Will pick it up when it hits three-fiddy :p

You'll love it then. I played a good few hours today and the vibe i'm getting is old skool Doom meets Quake. Probably more the latter. Fluid, frantic and the movement is great. Like putting on an old, comfy jacket :D

Not sure what they are on about with regenerating health and ammo, because they are most certainly not in the game.

If you liked Quake 2 then you'll like Doom because it plays very similar, but with the Doom 'Hell' theme.
