****Official Doom 4 Thread****

If its like the beta the only thing you can do is keep restarting until they run smooth - took me 10 attempts with the beta - after that it was fine - never goes away if you use the command line options to skip intro videos.

Anyone know of a way to either make the idsoftware / Bethesda logos run smoother at the start, or stop them altogether?

Removing boot_sequence.bik removed the videos (albeit with a lengthy wait), but the game ran terribly. Trying '-novid' in launch options did nothing. Alt+F4 seems ok, though again a lengthy pause before you get to the main menu.

The start logos are a known issue in beta - which seems to have a hangonver in the final release. Mine just glitched slightly once, but it makes me wonder 1) Why cant they code an simple as hell FMV to play? 2) if its not an FMV, why not just render it in 3d? (and vice versa)

It just bananas that a AAA game would have an issue loading its company logo. Make me wonder wtf they are up to with that.

It is weird - it goes beyond just rendering a simple FMV - while it is glitched it also causes problems with the main game until they've sorted themselves out - seems to mess up something in the cache file or something.

Not had a single problem with the game so far. Runs ridiculously smooth. The only thing I had to tweak was to turn off the mouse smoothing. I don't think the smoothing is completely gone yet, but it's considerably better now. This is on a 60hz IPS with vsync enabled. I can only imagine how fluid it would run on a 144hz gsync monitor!

Just encountered the Cyberdemon, such an epic fight. Most games would probably have called it a day at this point. So glad they made the main campaign a fair bit long.

m_smooth 0 does absolutely nothing - literally though a few sites advise it the cvar changed to m_smoothing 0/1 and is already off - m_smooth only works in the range of 1 and higher and only does anything when m_smoothing is on) :P the mouse feels almost ok if you have V-Sync off and rendering above 60fps but 60fps V-Sync feels meh.

The problems I was talking about with the mouse before are related to some oddities I'm getting at 2560x1440 - at 1920x1080 it isn't too bad at all (or higher res but then I'm dealing with low framerates which isn't good either).

When I first started playing the game I had little or none at all, where as now it's pretty bad. Suppose I'll just stick to using F4.

I don't know the first thing about game development, but it does seem a bit lame. :/

hi guys, sorry if this has been asked a million times but where is the best place to get this from at the moment?
Ta

I think cdkeys has it for £27.99 at the mo, though I'm not sure where the lowest price is. I know cdkeys is cheaper than kinguin / simply games at present.

Disable your iGPU. For some reason the game defaults to that instead of your discrete GPU which makes even the intro videos run at 0.0001fps.

Thanks for that, I expect mine is set to auto in the bios. :)

What CPU do you have? Do you see anything under display adapters other than your graphics card? In mine I had to disable the Intel HD Graphics.

No, mine wasn't listed (Win 7 / cpu is in sig). Looks like you're on 10? Don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Once a video has finished rendering I'll take a look in the bios.
