Play this with friends regularly, recently tried playing ranked solo. Is it me or is everybody who solo's ranked matches deficient? Everytime people pick supports and dont support, or 5 man carrys etc etc. Last game i tried we had two supports go bot lane and two carrys top but they wouldn't swap out :/
I dont understand how these people can survive.

I have that all the time, it's so frustrating :( A few games ago I had that being that I thought was a myth, the Nature's Prophet who just went between the jungle and that high rock to farm the radiant camp...he did this until about 30 mins in and we'd lost all towers. We had a Dazzle soloing a lane because he refused to join him! He was 4 levels below us but somehow we still won the game because the enemy were even more incompetent! Really hard getting out of the trash tier as a support :(

I'm in trash tier too (although I'm genuinely not very good at the game anyway), and mainly play support, what MMR are you at? I've had a pretty lucky streak over the past month or so where I've gained 150-200 points or so, 2-3 months ago i was stuck in a cycle of win one lose one, rinse repeat.

Stopped playing last may for 6-7 months, wish i hadnt done my match making alignment games as soon as i started playing again, dont think i won any of them!

2.8k I think. I don't really play ranked though (I think I have about 14 games) I'd only want to play as a 5 stack, solo would drive me insane.

I think I'll stick to Single Draft tbh for solo queue, although you occasionally just get really mismatched lineups the people that play it seem far less stupid than the ones in all pick.

The only thing about watching videos is that semi-high level play is nothing like newbie play. Its always dual lanes, picks and items choice are generally bad, supports stay in the lane etc. You can easily get mad trying to get people to play a meta they don't understand, its better just to go with it.

I'd agree in some cases, but Purge's videos are specifically aimed at people quite new to the game, so they focus on basic hero mechanics rather than anything too complicated. Definitely worth watching to get the general idea of a hero before you play it too much.

Yea I subscribe to him and watch them too. I agree they are very helpful, just don't be surprised if you roam mid to gank and your ally tells you to go back to your lane .

I'm not great but I'll help if I can musty, just add me. Don't listen to my itemisation choices though :p:D

I would recommend practicing bot games, they are very different from how a player game pans out but they are useful for getting used to a hero. Got to be half decent on pudge thanks to a lot of bit practice.

Going to get my first game tonight in 5 days, being it! :D

Thanks mate, maybe we can match up in a bit. I just did a good 515 with Lion and we won pretty quick so i think i am getting the hang of him. Its just learning the other chars moves etc thats going to let me down

It helps immeasurably to grow your knowledge of other heroes too as then you know what to expect when facing up to someone.

I just had a marvellous first game back as Dazzle, we were getting stomped early but myself and slark top really owned the lane. Slark got going and we were right in the mix. They had a good team LC, Drow, Shaker, Clock and Skywrath. We were struggling massively to get going but (not wanting to brag) helped dominate most every team fight with heals and shallow grave and my ult. got to the end and got accused of being a pro :p by the end every fight LC and Shaker were trying to blink onto me to remove from the fight :p

Went 5/5/29 and got 4 commends at the end for the game. :D

Ha now that sounds like a good game!

I am just watching Game of Thrones then I am back on for one or two more (or till I know I need bed ...)

Ahhh ... No i have been on all Hero.

If you are new I would recommend LH for a bit to get some grounding without too much varied stuff going on, plus you tend to find its newer players (though not always) so a little more forgiving.

Had another game before bed as Axe and another good game. We dominated and won in 30mibs, they pretty much insta picked and had 4 melee and Templar who is hadly massive range. Picked axe straight away and dominated :D only went 6/2 but got 19 assists (next bearest was 7) I just went hyper aggressive and waded into them for suitably large degrees of carnage, they couldn't even get close in a team fight and when it was over as stound 39/8 :p

Eurgh, what a dreadful night of dota, two games in a row going heavily up on kills early on, only for the carries to completely bottle it/no one to push at all and end up losing both games. Definitely the most frustrating position to lose from as a support.

Hate it when the entire team is reluctant to knock over a t1 tower.....get the ****** down!

EDIT: which brings me to a question, why, if you've just killed 3 people in one lane, would you not instantly knock the tier 1 tower down while your whole team is there? 1 person leave by all means to defend the other lanes, but i can't understand this idea of 4 people wandering off and not bothering with the tower while the chance is there!? FREE GOLD DAMNIT!
