*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

Played my first game last night (just vs. bots). I was all at sea, but still really enjoyed it! Really steep learning curve compared most games around these days - intimidating and enticing in equal measure!

Been doing some serious reading to figure out the basics, so going to give it another bash over the weekend.

Only played with Lich so far, any other heroes you'd recommend for a complete noob?

Lion, drow ranger and sniper. Lion is fairly easy, has a stun/hex and a really strong single target ulti. Drow is good because she only auto attacks apart from her Q which can be targeted to slow. Sniper is the same with a Q AoE slow and his ulti.

I'd recommend just playing All Random/Single Draft game modes when you're starting out. It encourages you to try out new heroes, but also means that everyone else in the game is doing the same.

There's nothing worse when you're starting out and playing a new hero for the first time than getting put in a game with the guy who has only every picked Drow Ranger for the 100 games he's played.

I'd also recommend going for support heroes if you get the chance and learning to play the support role. It teaches you really good game habits.

Drow also has an AOE silence.

DOTA is so god damn amazing. I've been playing it since college, circa 7 years, and I still play it as much as possible.

That is all.

Don't lane with furion, he has ridiculous auto attack dmg if you can grab a desolater.

My build for pub is.

RoB + 2 clarity for jungle
Hand of midas
Steam boots
Sycthe
Desolater

If youre doing well can have this around 25 min, then go attack speed item + bkb and you'll tear half their team in a few seconds

It is interesting- I managed to get this by jungling hard for the majority of the match, but I still had trouble killing heroes on 100% HP even with the element of surprise. I could TP behind them and start attacking, cc and they would still have enough HP and abilities to decimate me once all the CC had finished.

I was hoping the inclusion of the language filter for servers would help but the Russians still want to join English servers and refuse to speak it. Honestly, what is wrong with them?

For me they're the most negative aspect of the game right now.

What's with the deal on heroes lingering in the safe zone for most of the game, but are not disconnected? Are they slowly saving their gold for an uber-gear? Or are they immature to join a game, then pee everyone off by being afk?
