*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

I mostly play support and have climbed from 4.1 to 4.4 so I don't think that you HAVE to play carry. Supports win the or lose the early game most of the time and that is usually a good precursor for the rest of the game. Some support heroes fall off later into the game, some don't.

There will be a massive difference between a 4k support and a 2-3k support.

  • You will almost never see a rotation onto mid
  • Single pull of the small camp is order of the day (if even an attempt to pull is made)
  • Almost never carry a TP to react to dives on mid / other lanes
  • Won't know about creep aggro so often take additional damage in the lane and constantly pushing the lane because the enemy creeps are attacking the support rather than fighting our own creeps.
  • Zero control of the offlane rune if the enemy mid is heavily dependent on a bottle for regen.

Don't get me wrong this is often mirrored on the enemy side too, so I agree healing supports are amazing because at the lower levels, they just want to fight all the time. It's pretty much just team death match. I love having a dazzle in my lane, constantly healing.

An omni ult at the right time is almost game breaking vs physical damage teams. My only problem with omni players are the ones that cast repel on themselves instead of on our initiator or carry.

I almost exclusively play unranked though. Sitting on the edge between High and the very high skill bracket on Dota buff.

My ranked is 2.7k from when I calibrated when being still really new to the game. Playing ranked in that skill range the games are so derpy and the throws are huge. Struggling to force myself to grind it out in ranked because the games are just awful, really not fun and find myself having to lead the whole team to take objectives etc. There is constant fighting between players in the team, even when stomping to a win. Really unpleasant to play in that range.

Anyone who wanted the Faceless Rex courier and had no luck it is now available in marketplace. ~£25 currently. hoping it will go sub £15 soon

Anyone up for some games of dota? I'm always on voice comms, not great but know the game, I have about 2.8k solo MMR

*edit* I'm usually around between 6 and 10 PM

Had a horrendously stressful game tonight.

It lasted 84 minutes!

I got nothing but abuse from some douchebag who wasnt happy with how I played Chaos Knight.

My priority was to get farmed enough to be useful . This Kunkaa dude gave me grief none stop. In the end I went about 18/8 and kunkaa had like 21/17 or something.

It was funny because by the end of the game he started trying to dictate what items I should buy. He did nothing but make me rage. The game was lost by him really. Was a good game overall though. It ended with their ancient on about 5% when they killed ours.

The first tip to having a more enjoyable Dota experience is instantly mute people who are annoying.

Yeah I often do, I probably shouldnt have let this guy wind me up.

I was doing the 10 hero challenge thing and Ive only played CK once before. Once he realised I was actually doing good and winning teamfights he kinda shut up. It was satisfying to prove myself I guess :)

I don't think the Vulkan support will draw too many people in tbh, custom games on the other hand... It would hilarious if this ended up undermining Heroes of the Storm.

Just had the weirdest game.

Winning after about 20-25mins no bother, our Lifestealer for no real reason goes maximum retard. Sells all his items, feeds deaths for the rest of the match, buys couriers to feed them gold and reports what we are doing etc to the enemy.

Luckily for us he was **** at being **** and we still managed a win after 72mins :D

I was Jugg, then had Tiny, SD and Sand King (with a huge gold disadvantage) beat QoP, Pudge, FV, WW and Silencer. Unreal game and no idea how we managed it, just defended and picked our fights and managed a win which was great after having the LS **** try to ruin the game.

Even the opposition were taking the **** out of him by the end for the fact he couldn't even spy on his own team well enough to give them an advantage :p

Even without the lifestealer you had much superiour late game with Tiny and Jugg, Shadow demon to save people and one of the best teamfight ults/initiators in sandking.

Nice to get a win with an idiot like that on your team though, I think some people must get enjoyment out of doing that sort of thing.

It's happened to me maybe once in nearly 2k games, can't remember if we won or not, it was long ago!

Terrible as any other moba game, just ignore them lol.
I'm not going to say which moba because then it will seem like I'm crashing the thread but not all of them have a bad community.
Flamers are fine, you just mute and carry on but when someone instalocks a carry when you clearly need a support and then goes onto feed for "banter". You can't ignore it.

As I said I've only seen that once in over 2k games.

Mostly it's just toxic players being negative or flaming so mute them and carry on.

All MOBA's have that though.
