*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

The biggest problem is people who rage at you for not doing as they say, who suck themselves and are just looking for an out.. that then take your items off the courier and drop them in the trees, very frustrating and its lead me to not use the courier at all in quite a few games.. you only get two reports a week unless one is successful.. so theres only so much you can officially do.

I ended up in low priority over the last few days purely for taking abandons for this reason and I actually had better games in LP than the normal priority, there were many more friendly people. Not once did I have an item stole off me or saw one stolen off another player.

My brother had an item stole off the courier by a troll warlord, who didnt like that my brother was jungling as lifestealer. I kid you not and that is the game that got me into LP.

However the last time I ended up in it (going AFK due to a RL reason) I spent the entire time with full on special bus users and it was not pleasant at all.

I think this is the main problem with DOTA2 atm

Back when it was closed BETA it was really fun to play as there weren't so many ragey clueless kids.
I recently came back to playing DOTA2 (not played since BETA) and the number of people who rage & tell the team to initiate or do stupid stuff is annoying.
What makes it worse is a lot of them start spamming in chat "report x" and the person they are telling people to report have been the most helpful in the team.

I guess it was inevitable that as DOTA2 became more popular it would be as bad as League Of Legends for ragers/clueless people :(
 
I hate to say it but its because its free. If they offered a service where you could only play with people who paid I'd be all for it. People don't care for being banned, they can easily swap to another free account.

Its by far the best free game I've ever played, I wasn't into MOBAs before and I tried it back sometime last year and just rage quit as I didnt understand it but a few friends started and like many online games, was more fun not playing on your own.

Last night, while nothing bad happened to me.. we did have a Lone Druid tower diving to the t3 when the t1 was up and dying, he wasn't using his bear either.. he disconnected for 4 minutes, by the time he was back my friend had spawned his bear and put the correct items on it.. when he logged back in (as we thought he'd gone for good) he transferred them all over and sent his bear off to die...

I play mostly with 3 other people so there is always one random with us, we have managed quite a few 5 manners but that one random guy we end up having is the gobbiest, elitist creature of them all.. every single damn time. Sure you can mute them and they've finally done something about ping spamming but they just escalate it to griefing with the courier, feeding or abusing abilities such as hook, nightmare, chens send home, astral imprisonment ect ect. It doesn't happen every game but it has been happening more frequent, perhaps TI3 pulled in more people and it has recently come out of beta. The major issue is that there is little we can do and that one spoiled game can really ruin the rest of your playing, no matter how much you try to not let it get to you.

With the courier abuse there isnt even a correct report, the closest is ability abuse.. if you google "dota 2 item stealing" youll see it goes back quite a while, yet is still not fixed. Even the disallow help button doesn't stop it.

I dont even know which forum is the best to report it on. Steam I'd assume? Though there are often 3rd party sites that have more sway and popularity than the steam forums. Any ideas?

The courier theft thing is:

Anyone can control the courier and take items off it, which means they can give them to themselves and also place them in their stash or in the trees somewhere. With there being plenty of room in there they can create quite a bit of havoc and there is nothing you can do about it, many items they cannot use but consumables I believe they can. So other than griefing, there is no reason for them to take them.

You cant disable them from doing this either so you're left to pickup your equipment manually which isnt a huge problem unless you're midlane, jungle or stuck somewhere as usually you're safe to run back but you have to make sure you make it worth the trip and by the time you found out this is their plan, its too late.
 
Sorry about not being around to play games with you boys, as of recent. Between uni and my new job, I'm just finding it hard to spend time playing Dota at the moment! Here's hoping I can get an hour or two to play!

I could really do with Purdy in my game, as he drags it down to super low skill level.
 
Had some really good games last night (just pub ones) 2 close losses then 2 dominant wins. Annoyed on the last win as I went afk for a coupe of mins to resettle my son and someone reported me so I got no credit for the win. This was despite the fact I had the most kills in the team 13/1 the scummers. :(

Drow Ranger is so good :p as murderikg everything with it after I got the first level of my special skill.

Away for a week again now :( enjoying this game too much lol.
