**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

demo so far from what I have played its not half bad. with it being duke you don't take it too seriously. driving bit was lil bit iffy

quite good fun tho :)

Just had the misfortune of playing the demo. Got to the vehicle part before switching it off. I mean I was a big Duke3D fan, but anyone who pays 30 quid for that needs a psych evaluation.

Duke will be good, but not good enough for £30, more like £15-20.

Kinda thinking the same thing myself at the moment. Didn't mind the demo but felt there wasn't quite enough of it to get a true representation of the final product.

I'll probably check it out at some point, just unsure of which point that'll be lol.

game is shocking , this wont get anyone excited at all...5 years ago it could have been passible nowadays its gonna be mocked and jeered by everyone.

Even if so, that guy is totalling missing the point. He seems to think it should just be a corridor shooter where you get sequentially better guns. Every single little thing which is interactive he dismisses as a weird waste of time.

Not saying it's a good game, just saying it's not bad for any of the reasons he's giving.

" This is pointless "
" That's pointless "
" You're in a buggy, this is unoriginal "
" This is simplistic "

Guess what mate, your life is pointless now **** somewhere and rott

Nothing to do with originality. I mean I enjoyed the vehicle parts in HL2 while most other people seem to **** that part of the game off.

Chill mate, I think the Duke humour has gone to your head a bit ;)

What I'm hoping is, none of this is actually part of the finished game, which hopefuly will be more polished...but then why release it (the demo)? Think I'll wait for reviews.

O.K. Mein Fuhrer. :p

Personally I wouldn't spend a penny on it after playing the demo and would be a total waste of my time as I see it. Only my opinion. Then again I never got B-Movies, either.

I say play the demo; when it is avilable to all and make your own mind up.

*Note to oneself, Ignore from now on.

give it another go and get past the driving bit as I admit its a bit like hardcore 4x4 on the PSone lol . takes bout 30 seconds then you are back on your feet again and it's bit more tactical than the boss fight, railgun sniper rifle is a fave for this bit atm

Just completed the Demo last night.

I really do hope for all the die hard fans out their and in this thread that what I just played is a year+ old build because if it isn't god help them as for me it was about as fun as do-it-yourself thumb screws.

Also here's hoping the "adult themed humour" is actually "adult themed" in the full release because all I saw in the demo was immature and childish at best and utterly juvenile and pathetic and worst.

Pro-tip, silly one liners and being able to pick up **** and throw it at walls is not "adult themed". Generally speaking if you can't repeat a joke to someone at work who isn't a gamer, you aren't it's target audience.

At first I was very sceptical about the youtube review, but after playing the demo I have to echo the sentiments of everyone here, the demo is rougher than a bears behind.
At first I thought I had loaded up Prey, bumpmapping ahoy!.
Did anyone else notice the "effect" used on the broken mirror on the right?, rather than the mirror actually being broken, they just applied a texture on top of the surface of the mirror, everything else has height definition, that textured overlay did not.
Mechanics wise, very cumbersome... that 4x4 handled like a dead cow, and he was bang on about the AI, it just isn't there, one minute I'm being sniped, the next I'm being zerg rushed.
Oh, and the placement of that ammo crate sucked.
Gutted.

Then again I never got B-Movies, either.

I adore B-movies, probably my favourite type of film. Now I should clarify that by saying not the modern B-movie, you know the ones, the Ice Storm/Meteor Strike/Dinosaur Apocalypse type of cgi made for tv, SyFy channel movie... I mean the "proper" B-movie. The black and white ones from the 1940s/50s. I utterly adore those.

Late night, on the sofa, watching It Came from the Desert, or Them, or Ants. Brilliant :D

I'll give it another go when I get home this aft, but up until the point I switched off it was like playing an alpha build of something..very messy. I know 3DRealms probably haven't given much to go on, but even in the short time since Gearbox took over I expect better.

2 Weapon limit was the most retarded design decision ever.

I really don't like it.

Same. Heck, even I could strap a Colt 1911 to each leg and whack a shotgun over my back, and hold a rifle - this is Duke we're talking about!

Ah well, I'm sure there'll be a config file somewhere to edit fairly quickly - Did the same with Crysis :p

That's ******* **** ****...

Put those guns in the damn game! How hard is it?!

I hate this kind of paid "DLC."
