**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

The guns could possibly be released for free but 3 deathmatch maps and 15 new singleplayer maps, I doubt they will be.

Looks like the demo is a pretty old build afterall, people have been skimming through the files and found numerous pax references.

Might not be the actual pax demo but its pretty old to say the least.

It's a tech show and looks like those files were just created specifically for PAX to "show" off some Duke.

Gearbox seem to be quite quiet about it all so maybe we're in for a surprise but I also doubt that. :)

Depends.. Could be used to get people to buy the game itself when the initial excitement has died down...

^^

What's the significance of PAX?

Pax was where the game was first shown in september 2010.

Something else people noticed.

So maybe there's hope yet the demo isn't a true reflection of the game itself as regards gameplay etc etc!

If you use the noclip cheat you can see some placeholders on the second level too.

Big single block colours saying 'background' or such.

Animated green goo is going to save DN from being an over hyped turkey of a game?

Its people spotting some differences between the demo and the full version, theres other things that have been pointed out in the gearbox forum that indicates the demo is pretty old. Seeing as this surfaced at pax in sept 2010 and they would have had to build the demo for pax its more than likely that a main team were working on the game while a smaller team worked on the demo. Id imagine the full game should have some significant improvements.

Don't understand why they didn't just chop a piece off the current code for the demo? Unless it's very hard to remove it I guess!?

Probably had the main team focusing on completing the game rather than syphoning some devs off to create a demo. The game was delayed by a month so its possible that was factored into the decision to release an older demo.

Why release a shoddy demo that is going to get panned and put potential customers off. How hard would it be to release a demo of the current build, not hard at all when it comes to showing your game off at its best. I believe the demo is a good indication of what to expect from the retail release.

Probably because they promised a demo then ran into issues getting the game complete on time. They did have to issue a delay of a month to get the game finished.

They could have released a demo of the current build but its not as easy as "click click click" job done. If anything the demo would have probably came out after the games release unless they again delayed the release to get the demo out first. And that obviously would have went down well..

^^ Hope this is right... I'm not cancelling my pre-order...

I'm hoping it is as well :p. Ive got the balls of stel edition on preorder, i think it'll be an enjoyable game regardless. people just have the microscope on this game because of how long its taken to come out.

The stadium battle (in the demo) scared me due to the appalling game-play. But if this 'demo' was infact created more as an advert (last year) than an actualy example of the game itself, then maybe there's still hope!

Maybe you can carry more than 2 weapons as well now :)

I dont think people get the point of the stadium battle. The stadium battle is duke playing his own game and is used as an introduction to the game, hence why its incredibly easy. When you get into the actual desert etc the pig cops can deal out more damage faster than the cycloid boss. :)
