**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

It would appear that play and hmv are both useless. Hmv claims "shipping now" yet despite me ordering before 1pm my order status still says "not yet processed". The order from play has been sitting on "packing" since about midday ...

Never played the first Duke Nukem its £10 off the original price if you pre-order was the demo any good? How was the graphics?

Is there any way to cancel orders from play? Would have thought theres an option for it in my outstanding orders, just sent them an email to see.

don't know what Duke is about either it seems!! it's never about the Gfx with Duke!! (although there not bad!)

Have a squint at this fan made trailer mimicking the 2001 version trailer (which was one of the best trailers yet seen for a game)

Someone in Germany has examined the retail DVD & reports it only includes part of the game & is missing vital parts like the exe's & system files data so it would appear piracy has somehow got to Steamworks games as well even though it has 128bit AES encryption!!! This is not the first Steamworks game to only have a partial install on either.....

Only 2 hours to go for us anyway as long as 2K unlock it on time (dirt3 did so lets hope Duke does!!).

Played the Xbox 360 version at a friend's earlier this evening (he nabbed it early as he works at a high street "game" retailer).

Well... it's... absolutely shocking. The fact that they've asked full price for this is an absolute insult, and I'm sorry to say that I do feel for those who have paid over £40 for the BOS edition. The normal editions should be labelled "POS Edition", because that's what it is.

The Duke attitude is still there, but snappy one-liners and the scatological humour can only take it so far. The gameplay is cack, and the graphics are ridiculously poor for today's standards. You can tell most of the levels were already completed and just re-skinned in the new engine. Everything is square. EVERYTHING. Imagine the original Deus Ex with a hi-res mod skinned in the UE 2.5 and there you go.

The textures are abysmal - some legitimately look like placeholders they just didn't get around to removing and putting the real thing in. For the full impact, just wait until you first step outside after the inital "Lady Killer" levels (I left my mate's house shortly after that). The shoddiness of it all hits you RIGHT then, as soon as you get a good look at the wrecked vehicles etc. outside.

Honestly... I could forgive it if they said "Hands up, we've finished the game but it's not to modern standards... here it is, Steam exclusive £9.99", but to hype this as a AAA title is just insulting.

Console versions of most games are shocking & have appalling texture work so this is nothing new until PC version it out & many have played it no-one knows the truth for PC Duke. Aussie PC gamers are not talking about it even though they got it an hour or so ago too busy playing/enjoying most likely!

Still no reviews?

Nope, odd isnt it. Just had a look on metacritic and they won't get a review til the 14th from proper "critic" reviewers due to the american release date. Probably some daft court thing in place to stop the reviewers actually giving any major info on the game before its actually released so it doesnt harm preorders. Quite possibly a really bad sign though judging from the demo being crap... :S

lol...game is screwed at only the second chapter, mouse and keyboard are unusable in when the lift opens...

*EDIT* Worked after 4 re-loads :O

Then does it again next chater in...ffs :(
