How do I cancel a pre-order?

Create an account on the Steam Support website (this is a separate login to your Steam or Steam forum accounts).

Raise a new question with a category of "Purchases and Payment" and a sub-category of "Pre-order", and fill in the remaining details.

Ensure that you put the correct account name where prompted, this is your login name, not the name that appears in your friends list. If you're unsure, it's displayed in the top right corner of the client as "<Account Name>'s Account".

For the body of the question just type something polite and to the point. e.g:

Would it be possible for me to cancel my pre-order of Half-Life 3.

Thanks.

You should get a reply from a Steam tech support within a day or two, to confirm you want to cancel, and to ask where you want your refund.

Note: If you purchased other games at the same time as your pre-order, you have to get the entire transaction refunded. You will loose access to all of those games, and will have to repurchase the game again as new.

I dont think its acceptable tbh to have to email them, there should be a quick and easy method thats just as easy as making a purchase.

Uh... ok.

I'd expect to have to contact support to duck out of a pre-order that I'd paid for and had committed to receiving.

If it sounds like effort, don't pre-order games you're not sure you want maybe?

Can't say I'm very impressed with the demo!

Can't understand why it's so meh! Considering it should be absolutely pimping the game?

The opening stadium fight scares me! All you have to do is move left/right and shoot... Not exactly taxing, and never got hit once?

Tempted to cancel my pre-order to!

I'd think that boss fight is easy due to it being just a demo and its
Possible that's the introduction to the game, they're not gonna throw you in at the deep end. From what I've been reading on the harder difficulties he pig cops hand out quite an ass beating at times.

So what are everyones opinions so far?

I've not been too bothered since seeing it a while back, looks like a generic FPS and it's nothing compared to Duke Nukem 3D. Someone prove me wrong!

Is this game really coming out?

Can someone cofirm its actually coming out.

Might want to wait till next week and see what people say after actually playing the game, thats if it comes out mind you.

I dont think i'll get the game after playing that demo, looking past the bad post processing the gameplay started to bore me a bit already. I think i'd rather be playing borderlands..

MP being a dlc means its likely to just be a cut down after thought to be released at some later date too :|

I remember playing the original Duke Nukem 3D demo for hours and hours...

This I played straight through without a single death, and no real problems... Seemed very unimaginative, and I can imagine the game play getting dull v.quickly :(

FXAA introduces sub 60fps I found, FSAA is seamless but neither employ any FSAA usage which is a bit weird but this is an old demo...

Anyway, the graphics were perfectly acceptable and in some areas were borderline sublime where lighting and atmospheric effects played their parts.

I have screenshots in the HR thread HERE.

And yes, I spent ages flinging turd around. it had to be done.
