**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

Just played through the demo and, while it was amusing enough, the whole thing feels like a budget release. As stoke1863 says, the animations are relatively clunky, the graphics aren't great (some of the textures in the mountain sequence surrounding the mine are absolutely shocking) and it just plain feels dated.

I'll be leaving this one for when it hits bargain bins.
 
the demo is quite short and it does kind of 'feel' like a new duke nukem with all the old crass humour, good fun.

I wasn't planning on buying this on release and will probably wait until it's cheapo but from playing the demo I think the game will be quite good!

I've no problem with them rewarding fans and people that have shown support for the game by giving them the demo earlier than those that havent. It's not like they've suddenly decided it recently, the first access club has been around for ages.

I bet they'll make the demo available for everyone soon after release.

Well i'd agree except the code came from Borderlands goty which doesn't mean you've shown any interest or support in the game at all.

But yeah, it would be pretty strange to not release a demo publically, especially as its called 'first access'.

Downloading it now.
 
Oh it was both? Couldn't remember, I just know I got mine in the GotY edition.

Just waiting for steam to get on with its first launch installations ><

No, but it shows support of Gearboxes last big release. If they want to reward people that supported them by buying borderlands and all it's DLC as well as just people that pre-ordered, why not?

I'm sure there'd be cynics to say it's just a money dpinning exercise to flog more of their games. IMO anyone dumb enough to buy one game just to get a preview of another deserves their money taken.
 
Just finished the demo. I imagine the game will either be praised for just being 'Duke', or slated for its lacklustre visuals and gameplay. The game certainly isn't ground breaking and it doesn't exactly look great (it also has that kind of shiny thing going on like in the Riddick games).

Mouse sensitivity was also a bit weird. It doesn't really have that twitchy feel I was hoping for, and the precision setting means you could end up fiddling for ages to find a balance that feels right.

Edit: GPU temperate also seemed quite high after quiting. I don't exactly have the greatest airflow in my case, and with it being quite warm at the moment 88-92C is what I usually get (sometimes mid-high 70s if I'm using v-sync). But once I left the game and checked Afterburner, I noticed it recorded the max temperature as 102C :eek:

Pretty much on all the gaming forums around, talking about DNF and from various people I know. One place selling the pre-order has added to their description that demo access codes won't be available until 72hrs from the pre-order, plus there now is a shortage of access codes and now that nothing is 'guaranteed'.

I felt like I had gone blind at first, turned off film grain, didn't help, turned off motion blur, didn't help.

It was post processing that was doing it, it looks 10000x better with it turned off. I've got motion blur and film grain back on now.
 
Well one things for sure, it doesn't take itself seriously.

And when he makes a comment about how he could use a crowbar right about now I actually went back to look for one /facepalm
 
well finished the demo seems a back to basics, not a classic by anymeans, game did seem quite stuttery for me but hopefully drivers will fix that before to long
