**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

At the bottom of your reciept supposedly.

I have no receipt (physical one) as I pre-ordered online and only have confirmation email for my pre-order. I am guessing they are going to make me wait until they properly processed my pre-order before I get anything?

I suppose if I think about it, I did only pre-order it this morning on a FRIDAY, so I can only blame myself really.:o

Really odd, when I try to register an account it says, "this account cannot be registered".

So I opened IE and used that and I got the same error but I noticed on the left hand side there was a code for steam, so I entered that into steam and I'm downloading now :)

Now I'm really glad I got BT infinity a few days ago :D Downloading at 4.1 MB/s :D :D

Is it fairly obvious how/where you enter the code into Steam?

Is the demo from a standard exe installer? want to know if its likely to be put up by other sites. Its pretty lame of them to only give a demo to those that preorder. I thought demos were there so people could decide if they wanted to buy the game...

have also pre-ordered it from game for my brother , game is in the list but still no code to access the demo . no code in the email thanking me for my order , so it looks like i will cancel that also

Steam only for the demo.

I've no problem with them rewarding fans and people that have shown support for the game by giving them the demo earlier than those that havent. It's not like they've suddenly decided it recently, the first access club has been around for ages.

I bet they'll make the demo available for everyone soon after release.

As far as I am aware at the moment it's only through steam download, and it wasn't just those that pre-ordered but also those that had borderlands game of the year and such. As it says, it's through the "First Access club", the demo will probably be out to everyone else at a later date, but don't quote me as I'm only going by what I know.

Anyway just finished the demo, had fun interacting with the environment and general gameplay was fun and would love to keep playing it, but seriously, that depth of field effect needs to be reduced or removed or the option to because I personally find it horrible and is my only complaint, pretty sure my eyes started feeling uncomfortable after a while playing it :\.

Just played through the demo and thought it was quite amusing. It's definitely true to the original with loads of newer stuff added into it, like writing on whiteboards, throwing faeces around like a tennis ball and interacting with tonnes of other stuff which is usually left out of most games now.

Demo is split into two parts, first being the stadium where you mess around for a while and then go and fight the cycloid enemy with the devastator weapon, then when you've finished that, you move onto one of the highway sequences in the duke truck. That level is most of a proper one and gives you a real idea of the gameplay. My one and only major annoyance with this is you can only carry 2 weapons at a time, compared to the old game where you could have as many as you wanted lol. Theres a lot of variation in the weapons on the levels, with the pistol being the M1911, stakeout shotgun and then the more exotic stuff like the nailgun, shrinkray, railgun and rocket launcher to name a few.

The pipebombs and tripmines are separate from the 2 weapon system, and you press 3 to throw a tripmine and 4 for a pipebomb, which makes it easy enough to do in the heat of battle.

From a graphics standpoint, it does look kinda dated in a few areas, mostly due to the engine its used, but the graphics options do support two different types of AA on my nvidia card (FSAA and FXAA) and you can customise a few options like texture and shadow quality etc, although not in the way most PC users like to see (ie you can't choose 4/8x AA as the game just decides for you, just the type of AA used).

All of the exclusive retailers are not giving out codes today it seems. Unless you have pre-ordered days in advance, then it seems unlikely anyone pre-ordering today will get anything (today) - from what I have read.:(

Phone which ever company it is and get the code from them. a lot of people had to do that with game due to their receipt system not printing the codes properly.

I think he probably entered the code that he got into steam rather than than registering it first and getting the second code.

No it's obvious you didn't understand what I wrote...

I got the code from borderlands. I entered it on the website. I tried to register on there and it failed. So I thought it was because I was using opera so I opened IE and entered it on there and I noticed on that page that there was a code for me to enter on steam, which there wasn't when I was using opera...

I'm not THAT ******* stupid...

Do you get the impression there will be hordes of enemies at times?

My gripe with super graphics, is it tends to mean 2-3 enemies at a time. One of the great things about the old Duke Nukem 3D was at times there were loads of enemies... ie: > ten...

just played through the demo, was amusing thoroughly, and damn disgusting with the feces throwing but its all part of the (sick) humour so i chucked a turd or 2, maybe about 5 or 6 :D

The comedy of it will probably make me play it but I can feel the combat getting extremely tedious already.

I recall with the original Duke Nukem 3D people modding it to turn up the gore, and create loads of new levels etc... I hope that happens for this one...

I made a few levels for it myself. One that was actually downloaded a lot. It was a space station that was seemingly empty and when you went to get a burger you triggered an alarm and the whole place filled up with aliens and you had to fight your way back to your ship to get outta there.

Damn, I love the BUILD engine. I have never been able to get my head around any of the newer level designers :(

Just finished the PC demo. I played this demo in April on the 360 and properly hated it. The controls were god awful compared to other 360 shooters and it just looked like pure rubbish.

Im glad to report the PC version is much better looking (but still is not a good looking game) but more importantly the mouse controls and aiming are vastly better.

The game is ok but it just feels like it was designed a long time ago (because it was) . Animations look poor and there are sections of the game where it asks you to push a mine cart they dont even bother animating it just just have to run from behind it and push it up, would it be too difficult just animate the character so duke pushes with his arms?

I feel sorry for the console games becuase i really did think it was a POS on the xbox
