The problem is with the nightblade you provide the lowest single target DPS and AOE, least useful synergies and hardly any group benefits.

I'll explain in the morning, going to bed.

So to explain.

I rolled a 2h and bow nightblade, hoping that class wasn't a factor. It turns out to some extent it does.

So a bow using nightblade for single target can push 250-300 DPS on a single target. This is currently the same as a Templar Tank. A sorc with a destro/resto staff can push 400-450 DPS on single target.

Then on AOE, depending on mob size a nightblade can pull 600-800 and a sorc 1200-1500 per pack.

Its not the nightblade per say that is the problem, its the way classes synergise with the weapon you use. Nightblades are very PvP burst damage focused and outside DW its really noticeable.

So i've rerolled Templar Bow and 2h/destro staff, as i feel based upon a couple of hours of research it will synergise better with the weapons.

I suppose in theory it is 'balanced' as a NB will surely have much better survivability than a sorc and much better burst damage than a templar; however I suppose that is irrelevant in a raid style pve environment as a good healer can heal a sorc just as easy as a NB.

It seems kind of wowesque in a sense as there was a time when nobody wanted a hunter in a group even though they had relatively good DPS and solo survivability. I imagine a NB shines in 1v1 PvP or in amongst the zerg?

I have to say though, templars seem to be the ultimate all rounder at the moment. Due to the way tanking works and the fact that not even the tankiest of DKs can hold their own against boss mobs or lots of adds, so a templar does just as well. Plus the can off spec heal much better than a DK and from what you have said, also DPS better than a NB.

I'm quite happy to accept that there will be a FOTM class setup but I suppose I am just hoping that the freedom of play style becomes useless when one build overpowers everything else.

Taking a plunge on this from CDKeys - downloading at a steady 300kb/s so might be able to play it around May time.

Edit: I don't have a graphics card at the moment so will be using the on-board ones from my 3550k - will that be OK to run it (I won't be playing it loads as I'm in the final stages of completing my degree) or should I invest in a card, if so which one? Around £150.00.

How does the game work, are there the typical good v bad factions and as is everyone on the same server?

I feel like I'm not playing this game right. I'm level 6 and I'm dying constantly. Anytime I'm up against more than 1 enemy at a time I get owned ridiculously fast and killed. I've tried using healing potions to keep me alive, but they don't seem to do much.

What the heck am I doing wrong? :(

Every class should have some form of crowd control, try and use it if you can. I find that 1v3 is the usual fight when out questing solo. What I do as a tanky build is to attack one and try to keep it stunned, preferably the mage/healer of the pack of 3 and focus on it until it is dead. Also, make sure to block every special attack (white/yellow lines around the mob) as it will block damage and also stun the mob. Also make sure to bash the power attacks by pressing lmb+rmb together.

Keep moving is the key, you can't simply 1v1 the mobs like many other MMOs as the combat is so much more dynamic. Also avoid any red circles as they usually end up hurting lots.

I'm playing as a sorcerer. I'm trying to do a dungeon quest where I have to kill a single powerful demon to save a guy, but she is just destroying me. I'm not even coming close to killing her no matter what I do. I just keep running out of magika too fast and my health drops like a stone.

Is it the one where she spawns 'orbs' every couple of moves? If so, you have to kill the orbs before they get to her or else they heal her back to full health. I was puzzled by that one for a while.

You have 3 options mate a) do a different mission and come back to it b) share the mission and get help or c) uninstall the game

Yeah I worked that part out, but its still not happening. I can heal myself, but shes also healing as well. The fight just goes on and on until I die or get bored :(

Even if one of the orbs get to her, it heals her to full health. She doesn't heal herself whatsoever if you can manage to kill every orb before it gets to her. It took me about 5 tries after I had worked it out still as they spawn very close to her at times. Try and stay as central as possible so the orbs have to travel as far as possible to get to her.

Just go away, do some other stuff, and come back in a few levels? I had trouble with her at 8, never mind 6.

I would recommend following the quest that takes you to Bleakrock first, it's the original starter island for Ebonheart, and I really enjoyed it.

Craig, I left all of the quests like Doshia until I outleveled them at least 1 level.
With Doshia, being a ranged dps, you need ti stay around middle of the room, dodge her aoe and kill the orbs - be close to them and you get healed. You need at least a dot and one strong spell to finish this fight quickly, otherwise it drags on.

The orbs pretty much die in one hit so as soon as they appear press TAB to 'lock-on' to nearest and keep strafing around Doshia.

She has one hard sig attack which she powers up and fires forward at which point you need to be behind her with your hardest attack smashing her from behind . Don't forget to TAB targets !!!

You will, at times, get CC'd in the air which is okay, just make sure you kill every orb fast whilst circling her. It is a tough encounter until you work it out.

Doshia was tough, until I came back a couple of levels later. As others have said, keep her in the middle of the room and nuke the orbs when they appear. Use interrupts etc. and keep smacking her. If you're not reducing her health, come back later.

Managed to do her second time... Thankfully someone was online :D

Anyone using the zam minion client for addons? Debating about using it (doing it manually at the mo) as it has a auto update and manual update option.

Just checking its safe to use.

Finally have my PC back up and running so should get some game time on this now just got to decide if i start from scratch or not!

I'm starting to get a little better at the game now. Think it helps I've gone back to a staff weapon, which means I can stay at range to attack. Plus I'm getting more used to the combat style. And learning to avoid attacks instead of trying to trade blows.

Still the combat system isn't as good as it could be I feel.

It gets better. I felt like that for levels 5-10 but then found my stride and have a technique that flows quite well.
