*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

This thread still a great big arguement? :p

I've been away for about 4 days so haven't had the chance to play. Looking forward to trying to get past 10 tonight, continue exploring Auridon too.

So the sales numbers are coming in. ESO is unsuprisingly not selling very well.

Before anyone says it, VGchartz does now include digital sales.

ESO
http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41735/Global/
253k

For comparison, here's how SWTOR and GW2 did on their first weeks:

SWTOR
http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40902/Global/
1.4 mil

GW2
http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41154/Global/
849k

Seems like F2P in a year is almost set in stone now. I can't see the game selling much better in the coming months on PC, what with the server issues, a dupe bug that has destroyed the economy completely (that was also around since beta) and poor reviews it's not looking good.

Hopefully once this and WildStar are out of the way, the MMORPG genre can stop with this conveyor belt quest hub based nonsense.

It's not a quest hub game.

Apart from that, good info. I don't particularly care if it goes f2p, suits my "I hate p2p" standpoint to the ground :p shame something different is struggling but there you go.

Also, reviews are generally positive more so than negative from a critic and reviewer POV. Where did you get your info?

eekfek how about posting rest of what he said before posting that hes got a good point

Can you link the post I responded 'said point' and then get to your point of why you randomly singled out something I posted without you, yourself posting where I replied to what was said?

;)

Must admit that 253k is a very surprising figure to me, seems low. Whether thats a comment on peoples opinions on the game, or peoples opinions on pay to play MMOs, I cannot say, but quite a surprising figure to me.

Cant really say that it bothers me whether it stays p2p or goes f2p, I've enjoyed many p2p MMOs, I've enjoyed many f2p MMOs and I've enjoyed many p2p MMOs which went to f2p. So wont really affect my enjoyment of the game either way. Would be curious to see what its total sales figures were after the 2nd week and the 3rd week too , for comparison.

Metacritic.

Of course, you take these with a pinch of salt. However having checked the metacritic a while back both critic and user scores seem to of dipped quite a lot. I can only assume the fallout of the economy being devastated by the widespread dupe bug that was never fixed since beta will only lead to more bad press in the coming days.

I still consider it a generic MMO quest hub style game, although I can see your arguement literally speaking for it not being one. Sure there are more random singular quest givers out and about, and post level 10 you have some semblance of freedom. However by and large its generic MMO questing, with the traditional go here and click on that, go here and kill this. The PvP is the only redeeming feature, however is it worth a monthly fee when GW2 offers a very similar experience for the price of the box?

I have not bought it yet, I might but not yet.
I still play LOTRo and when it launched they had a founders edition which allowed for a single fee and no forthcoming monthlies.
I bought that.
When it went free to play, certain bonuses and things persisted, it remains the single best value purchase of a game I have ever made.

Now all I pay for is the occasional full regional updates, which actually can for the most part be bought with turbine points which my original status gives me each month for free also.

ESO just seems so damn expensive to play skyrim online.

I'm puzzled by this one, up until your post I hadnt even heard of a dupe bug and given that there is no AH I'm not even sure I can see how having a mass of coin would even devastate an ingame economy as I'm not altogether sure I can even see an ingame economy in ESO. In fact, the absolute highest thing I have even seen sell for ingame so far was a werewolf bite for 20k, an amount which seemed very feasibly reachable by this stage anyway, I havent yet seen anyone throwing around enormous quantities of coin, which is what I would expect from a dupe bug affecting ingame economies.

I'd be interested to know more of this dupe bug and what its affects are.

Around since beta, made public about 24 hours ago. All over reddit and official forums. Ultimately you could dupe mats and sell for gold. Top trading/pvp guilds heavily abused it and you can expect your next emperor to of been aided either directly or by the trickle down.

It got hotfixed now, but it's been in the game since beta. It's pretty much impossible for Zenimax to recover the economy to a fair state short of a complete wipe of gold/mats/items.

http://www.ownedcore.com/forums/eld...pe-yes-works-yes-you-can-make-1mln-few-h.html You can read some of the feedback from those abusing the exploit here. This is literally just the tip of iceberg. Any of the big guilds will of been abusing this to some extent.

Skyrim online would have been a superior game in my opinion. The issue with ESO from my personal experience is that it doesn't feel like a real MMORPG, nor a real Elder Scrolls Game. It's a weird shell of a game that just doesn't quite click. It lacks the depth, freedom and "cause and effect" of the single player ES games, whilst simulatenously lacking the social, grand and progressive feelings of MMO's. The ES and MMO components are at odds with eachother and I just felt like I was in a long line of other "heroes" running from ride to ride, in true themepark style.

I will just never...never , understand people like that. Its just utterly bizarre to me. Despite over 30 years of gaming, I will still just never understand people who cheat/exploit in a game. Utterly mystifies me. You've got to have some chronically low self esteem to garner your ego boost by cheating in a video game. Its just plain weird to me. But there you go.

Well I'd certainly have no complaints if they decided they had to do a complete wipe of gold/mats/items, not a problem for me, I'll get what I have back again in time anyway so no harm to me.

That link makes me sick. People complaining that it's been shut down and saying the gold farmers have been using it since release.

No wonder there are so many of the parasites in the game. Really angry at this.

Believe it or not this bug had been reported to Zenimax by some players since beta.

It's only once it went viral did it get hotfixed.

But it was misinformation, as I explained.

Pretty certain I have never claimed or said that. The difference is the people who don't like the game are sticking around and creating arguments by trying to force their opinions on others. Most if not all know newbie doesn't like this game, so why is he sticking around and causing trouble?

If you could toggle certain features on and off it would create an uneven experience. Tombstone doesn't like floating names so would turn them off but you might like them on and in pvp as explained it provides an unfair advantage, same with cast bars, seeing buffs and so on.

I never said you wasn't, I'm just sick of coming to this thread and reading the same **** from the same people who either don't play or hate the game and just stick around to create trouble. You cant discuss anything without someone just being a troll and derailing the discussion because only one mmo can exist at one.

The best thing about it is this place is one of the most negative forums I have ever read, it's almost suicidal at times to read people talk complete crap and ruin a games reputation because they didn't like it. Thief, ESO are 2 examples of people causing trouble which effected public opinion and didn't represent the majority.

I'll happily leave this thread and leave you miserable ****s to do a giant circle jerk.

LOL You really need to get out more. Look your a nice guy and have done a great job of helping people out with information and stuff on ESO to date but you really are taking any criticism of the game way too personally.

I love the way you think that somehow the small number of people on this forum saying bad things about the game is somehow going to ruin the games reputation for the millions of players worldwide who are playing it. Well done OcUK forum members, it was ye who ruined Thief and now you are ruining ESO as well!! lol Rubbish.

And then there is your claim that allowing people to toggle parts of the game would give an uneven experience and unfair advantage? And you were the guy who posted link with instructions of the Add on's that you can get that give you all these features. Does that give you an unfair advantage? Surely it would have been better for these things to be built into the game and controlled properly rather than an addon?

As for the last line of your post? Well, grow up. Crikey. Why does it bother you so much that people are finding faults with the game?

Yeah, me too, I can't get my head around it at all. And like you, I would prefer to lose everything then let those people who cheat and exploit games get away with it.

I don't know how far or can zenimax trace any of those mats in game?

Why bother buying the game if you aren't going to play it? lol
