Please could someone point me in the direction of an easy-to-follow site which looks at starting builds? I bought this last week and am so far a little bewildered by the choices available (must be an age thing! :() I've looked on various sites but they all seem to focus on end-game builds. What I'm looking for is a sort of 'If you want to end up with this sort of build then these are the skills/abilities to invest in on the way' guide.

I know that part of the fun with these sort of games is the experimentation - but I don't want to end up with a high level character which is useless because of poor choices early in the game. (Unless of course it's easy to respec your build like in, say, GW2 - in which case, I'm happy to experiment!:))

Try dungeoncrawlernetwork good guides there, they explain the skills and give some good advice.

There is no such thing as bad build really though. As long as you do a consistent build. And forget about the constraints of other mmo's. If you want a heavy armour wearing, dual axe wielding mage, go for it. :)

So I bought this game with it only costing me a tenner from GMG. I'm rolling a Mage and just hit level 4. This game actually feels pretty nice and looks decent enough. I'll swap between this and WoW sometimes but I must say, from what I've played tonight, I'm enjoying this game.

went for it. i hope not having the monthly sub doesnt makes progression slow etc

How are your download speeds? Mine is clrawling! I imagine im not alone?

Download speed was a bit slow but it got there in an hour. First impressions are graphics are a bit meh, although I've been playing TW3 so it's a bit of a contrast.

I've also had to remove the 100fps cap to get ULMB going. Hopefully the gameplay is good, will get a play tonight.

Lucky! Not sure whats happening my end! On a good fibre optice virgin connection and its hardly moving :*(

Yes, I'm on Virgin 100MB.

The server is probably getting pounded with the GMG sale.

Same here i think? Did a speed test and says im getting about 50mb download speed but has been much higher than that before

Launcher is downloading at about 1mb

Not to worry i can but wait lol, just wondered if it was my system playing up some how

Ive always found the graphics pretty good but after playing TW3 this week it doesn't look quite as good. :p Then again nothing much does after TW3.

What does help a lot is using Sweet FX with Radeon Pro, it sharpens and adds colour & contrast to the normally washed out look. I tried a few different peoples setting profiles but i think this one is the best. I can send it to you guys.

There seems to be optimisation issues. I'm at the first open area and the GPU usage doesn't want to go above 50% but the frame rate is jumping anywhere between 45 and 100 fps.

You will find that GPU usage isnt very good in areas with lots of players/npc's. Out of the main citoes exploring its a lot better.

I bought it last week too and did spend a bit of time looking for a build guide. Unfortunately everything I found was outdated and not necessarily valid any more.

I'm playing an Imperial Dragonknight at the moment, level 7 so far and trying to work things out as I go.

www.dungeoncrawlernetwork.com/category/library/eso-guides

Gives general guides to all skill lines which will help you decide where you want to go - tends to work better than following specific builds while leveling as it just gives the info for you to decide how you want to play and what kind of build you want.
I recommend trying everything as you level, I always get every skill line to 50 so that I have full flexibility at end game.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I am no pro, but given that they are my guides I should be able to help.

Monthly sub gives minimal boost - 10% xp and gold. Negligible really. The way the game is set up right now, not subbing is not locking you out of anything nor screwing you over with progression or limiting character slots or anything. In fact, currently the complaint is there is not enough benefit to bother subbing. I disagree with that though, because the sub gives you £10 worth of Crowns every month and lets you access any DLCs that come out, so if you buy Crowns then the sub just makes more sense (unless bulk buying)

As with most MMOs, you will likely find the CPU is where all the pressure is on rather than the GPU. The game certainly is not optimised for multithreading, you will find one core gets slammed while the others don't do much
