Couple more questions:

1. Can you craft if you have items in the bank or do you have to have them on you?

2. If you sub and get the crafting bag, does it stay with you when the sub lapses or is it pointless?

3. Lastly, how easy is it to get gold? Currently lvl 7 and only got about 500g, gonna take me ages to buy a horse :)

1. pretty sure you need to have mats on you to craft

2. Your existing mats will stay in craft bag and will be used when crafting but anything you pick up afterwards goes to your normal inventory

3. gold is quit hard to get at the start. Once you join fighters, mage and undaunted guilds you can do daily quest which give several ornate items as reward which you can sell. Stealing is good way to make money but you'll need to spend skill points to increase amount of items you can sell. Think it's 40 a day

Send me an invite and I can sort out some training gear for you when I log on later. Same username as here

Cheers, I've sent you an invite today (I think).

Up to you. If it's your first character then may as well start there though I'd visit your faction's starting location to join fighters, mages, undaunted guilds and start main quest.

Ok, I'll try to log in tonight but might not be till tomorrow eve.

A little rusty and just getting back into this on PC guys but can anyone point me in the direction of a decent place to download and install addons and a selection of good addons to get? I use to use Curse but this was such a long time ago there are probably better products.

Same here but I was recommended this for add ons:

http://minion.mmoui.com/

It shows all the add ons and is pretty good. This is the place that explains the addons:

http://www.esoui.com/addons.php

I started another character today as I'd messed up my first one but learning from my mistakes :)

Just found this add on last night, I needed it for soooooooooooooo long :) It tracks inventory of all your characters and you can filter by text finding gear sets so much easier
http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info731-InventoryInsight.html

and good video for useful add-ons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1RwEN0dROo&t=917s

Install minion and pretty much all the add ons in that video.

Zom247 I accepted your friends request but only logged on for a second tonight. Should be on for longer tomorrow eve so might speak to you then.

Thanks to the help from Bayo000 here and reading loads of info I think I'm finally getting there. However, I am still a little confused about builds and where to spend my skill points. I've watched videos of some of the builds (alcast etc) but they only show endgame builds, are there any places that show you what skills you need at levels (ie 10, 20 30 etc) or are the skills all good and it's just choosing for personal preference? I chose to start with a magicka nightblade build and been reading that this might not be the easiest to learn for a newbie! Spoilt by WoW when it comes to finding out which specific build to choose I suppose, I'll be on later today though levelling more.

Bit of a late reply but just to answer these as i think the reply you got was incorrect...

1. no you dont need the mats on you, stick them in your bank
2. the bag stays with you when your sub ends however you will no longer be able to store things in it, but you can take them out or use them from within the bag
3. Your first character is always the hardest gold-wise, once your max level it will become a lot easier since most people dont buy lower lvl stuff

regarding your latest post, try deltias site http://deltiasgaming.com/ most of his builds have a levelling section that shows you what to prioritise etc
stamina templar might be a good one to try for a starter, good damage + self heals

Researching is so slooow. I've just been putting 3 traits into lt/med/hy so I can make some seducer armour for my magicka NB. Moving onto more traits now so the process gets even longer.

Yep. Few more days and I can finally make the 7 trait set I've been wanting so that I can then start farming for a better set.

I'm now lvl 42 and still using more or less the lvl 26 seducer/juliannos gear someone in my guild made me. Not sure if you need to upgrade loads like in WoW until perhaps endgame but there's so much to get your head round in this game. Quest-wise I've hardly touched the main quest, I just keep getting side-tracked by delves and getting skyshards.

Upgrade your gear regularly, the way ESO works is that as you level the stats on your gear become incrementally lower. Check in your character screen and in the top right corner a gear quality meter consisting of a number of stars out of a maximum of four stars, when it reaches 2 out of 4 aim to change gear as you really want to try and maintain at least 3 out of 4 (don't bother with 4 out of 4 until Champion levels are in play), gear stops levelling down at Champion level 160.
